Can someone advice about the best steps to take when faced with a medical emergency.

suppose that your co-worker or family member is in need of medical assistance would it be wiser to wait for the ambulance or to drive them to the hospital ourselves.

i'd also like to know what kind of emergency procedures i should familiarise myself with, so that i'l be prepared.

thanks in advance

There is no Good Samaritan Law in place here, hence you will be held legally liable if the person you are transporting died while en route. Best to leave it to professionals. My 2 cents.

Hamad Hospital emergency service respond immediately and due to their nature work their ambulances are alawys given way by all vehicles on the road even at traffic signals. As such they would arrive very quickly. Some injuries at work-site could prove life-threatening if the victim is moved. The Hamad ambulances are well-equipped to deal with medical emergencies and also have qualified paramedical staff available. The ambulance staff also maintain contact through wireless with the hospital while attending the patient. If the situation demands attention of professionals, it is advisable to wait for the ambulance. Alternatively, first aid could be provided to the victim if one is aware of the procedures.

And don't forget that sometimes any movement of the sufferer might worsen his condition...

Wait for the ambulance, it is equipped like a mini-hospital and you will be assisted by at least 4 medical staff, with a physicist in critical cases, you just have to call 999, give your name, a brief status of the condition, and the most important is to give your location and address... Usually they arrive in 15 min.

When you call an ambulance, you have to wait for it whereas, if you go immediately, you spend less time. This is my point of view as traffic will always be there. Just bring the patient to Hamad Emergency with the patients' QID and everything else will be taken cared of with professionalism and care. It happened to me before and the caring and support is world class. From the time I arrive until discharge and post operative care. I was so impressed, REALLY.

Yea , i know but wouldn't it be a task to get through all the traffic?not to mention the blocked intersections the clogged round-abouts and to do all that while making sure you don't smash into other cars.. how long does it take them to respond to a 999 med emergency?

Emergency means immediate hence, the fastest way for the patient to arrive at the hospital is of prime importance.
