Qatar Duty Free (QDF) has unveiled a unique selection of food and beverage outlets to please the palates of every passenger travelling through Hamad International Airport (HIA).

The airport offers 40,000sqm  of combined food and retail facilities, about 10 times bigger than the duty free area of the now closed Doha International Airport.

Over 70 percent of facilities at the QDF area are open for passengers, offering a premier dining and shopping experience at some of the world’s leading brands, including Harrods, the first outlet in the Middle East.

According to officials, the remaining 30 percent of the outlets are expected to go operational over the next few months.

With more than 30 cafés and restaurants across 15,000sqm, passengers can enjoy a sumptuous selection of global and regional cuisine at exclusive food and beverage outlets.

QDF yesterday organised a media tour of facilities in the presence of senior officials, including Keith Hunter, Senior Vice-President, and Devesh Kuwadekar, Senior Manager, Marketing and Business Development, who briefed journalists on outlets.

“As QDF is part of a major international five-star airline, we understand the needs and expectations of our passengers, and have developed a unique and comprehensive food and beverage offering,” said Hunter.

“Starting from a blank sheet of paper, we have created new concepts to offer our passengers an enjoyable and innovative experience, and provide them with unlimited choices and authentic cuisine.”

QDF has created a renaissance in airport dining, providing a complete culinary experience based on passengers’ needs. An example is Jamocha Café, developed by QDF.

It offers a tempting selection of high-quality food and beverages, allowing passengers to enjoy everything from a cup of organic espresso to a creamy gelato, or a freshly-baked croissant. Everything is prepared using the finest of ingredients, such as the coffee, organically grown in South America, meticulously sourced and carefully crafted with the benefit of the customer in mind.

Marché restaurant is another example of a passenger-focused offering. Open 24-hour, it can accommodate up to 560 guests, and has been designed to satisfy the tastes of every passenger.

The seafood restaurant, Caviar House and Prunier, is the only restaurant in the world that produces its own caviar and salmon, and everything is prepared fresh in front of the passengers, creating a unique culinary destination for seafood lovers.

Those with a sweet tooth, there is Farggi, the Barcelona-based producer of premium ice cream and cakes. Passengers can enjoy premium ice creams, with superb latte coffee, and delicious crepe and waffle creations while waiting for flights.

The food court, called ‘Eat Street’, has a diverse range of food outlets, featuring Camden Food Company, Negroni (Italian cuisine), Yum Cha (Asian cuisine), Azka (Middle Eastern and Asian cuisine), BK (burgers), Red Mango (frozen yogurt, coffee and pastries) and SOHO (organic coffee).
