A summary of the most important points confirmed in today's press conference (according to the MoI press conference today):
1- Replacing the sponsorship law with a contract based law, which will organize the relationship between the sponsor and the sponsored
2- The exit permit will be cancelled and, but the worker will need to apply an exit request to the employer and if it wasn't approved within 72 hours and there was a disagreement on the travel a committee from the Ministry of the Interior will resolve this issue out in 72 hours
3- The ban period (2 years) will be canceled and the financial obligations of the sponsored would be eliminated from the sponsor and the sponsored person will be responsible for any financial matters .
4- The new law will include all job types (housemaids and others).
5- The financial penalty on an employer who is keeping the passports of his staff will be raised to 50 thousand , instead of the current fine(10 thousand )
These points are already approved by the Council of Ministers and pending for in Qatar Chamber of Industry and the Shura Council for approval.
