Bank makes million-riyal mistake
A court has penalised a bank for taking out QR1mn from one of its customers’ account “by mistake”, the local Arrayah daily reported.
The Court of First Instance ordered the bank to pay QR140,000 as compensation to the victim for damages resulting from the transfer.
It was also ordered to pay QR66,000 to the plaintiff as the remaining balance which was not refunded to her.
The court said that the plaintiff had requested the bank to transfer the amount of 210 Jordanian Dinars (QR1,109) to another account.
Instead the bank transferred an amount of JD210,000 (QR1.109mn).
When the bank was asked to refund the transferred amount, it began doing so in instalments, and later, failed to refund a remainder of QR66,000.
The plaintiff claimed that the bank's mistake had caused financial and moral damage.
By deciding to sue the bank, the plaintiff was claiming a complete refund of the remaining balance and a compensation for damages.
The court in its judgment then ordered the bank to pay the plaintiff QR206,000, which includes the financial compensation of QR40,000 and moral compensation of QR100,000.
Similarly "ooredoo" deducted my balance of around 150 Riyals even though I had an UNLIMITED INTERNET pack active. Called them around 7 times to follow up on the issue and to get the reimbursement. They keep on raising complaints to different departments saying your thing under process. Now it's almost one week since my balance was deducted and still I haven't got my balance back. I don't know whether TRC is properly auditing these transactions because there are so many customers being affected in similar ways. They simply say it's a technical fault. What the fuxt. Each of the customer service representative says a different story. First of all these guys in Customer Support doesn't have good communication skills and understanding skills, they don't have the real a qualities a customer support should have.
I worked in several banks very un qualified people are working with no proper training, those transfer are done from the operation department so somebody entered it manually so somebody got a hit on the head for this mistake
All of you wait, Mr Seetharaman would look in to the matter.
Out of my experience, (some) bank staffs , even they dont know how to calculate the simple interest rate, and no basic knowledge about honor / dishonor of cheques, the banking sector is very worst here.
exactly...why the bank is not being named and shamed
We are all proud to say that technology has developed, banks are quipped with state of art machines, readers, scanners, counting machines for accuracy etc., how long we depend on machines, why not the bank staff update them selves when they deal with public funds.
exactly...why the bank is not being named and shamed
Why isn't the cheating bank being named ??
