MANILA, Philippines – An Arabian tourist lost close to P400,000 worth of foreign currencies and mobile phones to thieves, who looted his room in Manila.
Mohammad Naif, 36, a guest at room 701 of the Pacific Place Apartelle Suites along Arquiza Street in Ermita, found his unit ransacked and robbed of his belongings when he returned after breakfast at around 10:30 a.m., Saturday.
The tourist reported the burglary to the Manila Police District General Assignment Section (MPD-GAS) several hours after the theft.
In his complaint lodged with the MPD-GAS, Naif claimed to have lost US$2,300, equivalent to more than P100,000; 18,000 Saudi Riyal, worth more than P223,000; and four mobile phones worth an estimated P50,000.
MPD-GAS investigators are conducting follow-up operations for the identification and arrest of the burglars and the possible recovery of the stolen items.
