Sa tuwing Pasko
During Christmas season (or any given time of the year when I feel like doing it), I pulled out some old clothes/toys from my storage (baul) and I dragged my kids to our downtown city and distribute these goodies to some of our unfortunate kababayan. You see, in our hometown, we not only have local beggars (pulubi), but we have 'atis' or 'aetas' (minorities) roaming around the city and most of their kids not even wearing clothes. And they sometimes hanged out on the pedestrian skywalk (flyover bridge) or along the streets. It is not a 'panata' but a gesture of goodwill so to speak, and a way of thanking God how blessed I am & my family that we have roofs on our head and some clothes to warm us during the holiday. One day I was reminded by my eldest that if we were in our hometown city, by now we are already doing the 'usual thing'. he!he!he!yeah, the 'usual thing' it is! And it's really so funny though that sometime of the year you can see these poor kids running around in the city wearing my kids' clothes!:) But it's so cool. Really, true happiness & joy can never be bought by money!
Merry Christmas to my fellow Ilonggos and to everyone!
