Majority of parents satisfied with school education
A report by Evaluation Institute of the Supreme Education Council (SEC) has revealed that 80 percent of parents are satisfied with the education provided for their children.
The ninth Annual Report on Education at schools in Qatar is based on Independent schools, private Arabic schools and international schools.
According to the report, 75 percent of parents are satisfied with the curriculum taught at schools and 82 percent of parents have expressed satisfaction over how schools deal with their children.
The report provides data and information on many important aspects of schooling for the academic year 2012-2013.
It includes information about students, parents, teachers, principals, leaders, educational services and facilities, evaluation of practices and teaching methods, homework and students’ academic achievements and important information on trends in student behaviour.
On average schools have 45 percent Qatari students, 35 percent Arabs, and 20 percent non-Arabs and only two percent of children have learning difficulties. And an average of QR13,026 is spent on a student by the family.
Among students, 61 percent have expressed satisfaction with activities provided at schools.
Students at international schools spend 7.2 hours a week doing home work, while at private Arabic schools they spend 6.4 hours and at Independent schools 5.9 hours. International schools have an average of 21 teaching hours per week, private Arabic schools teach for 16.5 hours and Independent schools for 13.6 hours.
Meanwhile, 94 percent of principals have expressed satisfaction over student behaviour and discipline, while only 65 teachers have expressed satisfaction.
