Kahramaa Deposit - Leaving Qatar permanently
Dear QL users, I hope some of you can help me in regards to my query.
I am leaving Qatar permanently on 13th April (flying out in the evening). In order to get my QR 2000 deposit back from Kahramaa, what is the quickest way?
In my understanding from reading previous mails on QL forum, here is the process I need to follow:
1) Go to Kahramaa Main office on D Ring Rd and apply for cut-off power
2) A guy from Kahramaa will come and note down meter reading and give it to me in writing
3) I need to get Application Form with meter reading signed off by Kahramaa Manager in D Ring Rd office
4) I'll get my deposit, minus any dues, back in form of bank cheque
5) Go to Bank and get cheque cashed
Please correct if above needs modification.
My biggest concern is that if I do it 2-3 days in advance of leaving Qatar, just to avoid any last-minute issues, Kahramaa will cut-off my electricity the same day and then I will need to either live in my apartment without electricity or will need to find a cheap hotel for 2 nights. Is this true? Please help and tell me the quickest way to get it done. Thanks
Konstanz is right. They usually cut the power-off the same day. Not too sure about the deposit.
My parents had done it last year...step 1-3 was same for them , but they didnt get cheque..they got cash...they did it just the day they were leaving...i dont think there is any quicker way..its just how kahrama works...
