Three Cheers for the Pharoah
Joke of the day …. Al Sisi says “We work in a democracy” :O)
Egypt's army chief General Abdel Fattah Al Sisi said on Saturday that if he runs for president it must be at the request of the people and with a mandate from the army, state-run newspaper Al-Ahram reported on its website.
Sisi is widely expected to run for president but has yet to make an announcement of his intentions. This statement was the first indication that he might run.
"If I run then it must be at the request of the people and with a mandate from my army... we work in a democracy," he said.
In July the army ousted the country's first democratically elected leader, Mohamed Morsi, after mass protests against his one-year rule. It then appointed an interim president and outlined a roadmap for democratic transition.
They say that a People deserve the leaders they allow to govern.. This surely holds true for Egypt.
Egypt is back in the grip of army role. Though Morsi was on the right track to eject army out of the govt. business, yet he was taking quick and dividing decisions against the army and ex officials, which resulted him going down.
On the other hand, a few countries were not happy with the Egyptian role in the region under his governance.
He ousted a democratically elected leader and now he talks about Democracy...Joke of the year I would say...
