Advise on UK trading activity in Qatar

Hello,

I would like some advise regarding how to go about starting an export trade activity into Qatar as a british company registered in the UK. I have a limited company registered in England and I am currently residing in the UK. I plan on advertising in the local Qatari papers and selling some items to companies in Qatar through a family contact I have in the country.

I have a family contact in Qatar but they do not own a company at the moment. I would like to assign them as my agent, who would be responsible of overall sales activity and management in the country.

Can you please advise me what the rules in Qatar regarding a British company wanting to enter the Qatari market through appointing a representative or agent in the country who is an individual that is not part of a company.

Is this kind of trading activity allowed ? does the agent have to file some kind of registration with the authorities ?

Can you give me detailed advise with steps I can take to commence my trade

Thank you very much for your time and your help is warmly appreciated

1. No business can take place in the individual name, as for business, there must be a locally registered company. In your case, it is unlikely to register a company from outside.

2. The ideal way would be to search for the customers, book their orders based on the samples, supply them and then receive the payment in shape of remittance into your company account in the UK. Your local coordinator can do the above things even without registration.

3. However, the products from UK are very less likely to be sold out, due to several factors.

4. If you could mention your line of few main products, a clear advice would follow on whether they can be sold out here or not.
