Qatar National Day celebrations will take place on December 18, and the theme of National Day this year is 'One Love' aimed at unifying citizens and expats.

The Committee of Associated Programmes for QND celebrations has made all arrangements for the National Day's associated events and activities, in coordination with Asian communities in the country, MoI's Director of Public Relations Department Col Abdullah Khalifa al Muftah and Manaa Ibrahim al Manaa, committee member, said on Wednesday.

The MOI has promised this year that the festivities this year will be "bigger and better" than preveious celebrations by incorporating expatriate communities and their representative schools.

This collaboration will present a wide variety of cultural events, entertainment programs, and physical activities to be held at different venues outside of Doha, giving residents all over the country an opportunity to enjoy the celebrations without having to move out of their home towns.

This comes after rising tensions between both communities, where expats make up about 80% of the country's population.

The unbalanced demographics have caused some tensions including competition the job market, freedom of religion, alcohol consumption, and gender ratios.

Though todays Gulf Times doesnt mention Asian communities but it states "The events will be open to residents and workers alike". A categorical mention of it goes to show that it was otherwise earlier to some extent. A very welcome move.
