After only one person (Forever Alone) attending a football match recently in Qatar between two local sports club, the Qatar Football Association has launched a survey to boost the turnout of football fans.

A group of local organizations are looking for public feedback on why barely anyone is attending football matches through a new survey. The survey aims at finding out why attendance at football games in Qatar is so low and to come up with a stretegy to bring fans into stadiums.

In the survey, residents are asked to identify the factors that prevent them from going to these matches. The survey will continue for 2 weeks, ending around December 8th, 2013.

What are some reasons you might not attend football games?

Main reason,,

No freedom for bachelors

They cannot go to corniche, mall etc on holydays

It affects a very large percentage of the population. Friday is the only day where most people would seek and try to find something worth their time to shy away from boredome and stress from a week-long work. Recreation and sports is quite essential for families and for INDIVIDUALS as well.

This very large percentage helps build the nation and you definitely get to see these people everywhere. Where's fairness and equality? Is this racism?

well as a good resident of Qatar or people who live in Qatar from long time everyone interested to watch football matches .i remembered my time when alot of people showing interest in qatar locals club matches that time remember my favourite players of rayyan club e.g younas ahmed ,mohmood sufi ,same in al sadd club and others but i think governement have to give equal rights for non qatari people to participate in their clubs because alot of non qatari people living in qatar they love qatar more then there own country because they born here .why football popular in European nation because they give equal oppertunity for other people best example is the Zidane whos origin from Algeria but playing for France . i think thats the reason well lets hope for the best Inshallah

JaquesMex: The local leagues are there as a sideshow. A few clubs have some diehard supporters, but most people are not interested in local football.

The large Expat population supports clubs in its own countries.

Publicity...I'm from Mexico where football is like the most important sport/show, there's a lot of publicity in tv, radio, news paper, you always know what are the matches of the week, schedules, names of the stadiums, once you decide to go to the stadium, you can have snacks, drinks, etc. When I arrived here to Doha I try to go to the first game of Benitez, never find where to buy the ticket, not quite sure the timing of the game and then everything is arabic, I know I'm in the middle east, I know this is an arab country, but at least the important things they should provided it also in english, 100% arabic, reduces your target market to only arab speakers

Better to host cricket match between India vs pakistan, u can find a 'housefull board' out of the stadium. no need to spend time or money for survey :P :P lol

To me football or any game is pleasure and you can only have pleasure when you are happy, my point is the hospitality in Qatar is less than poor, working conditions poor, payment of salaries poor and social life forbidden hence nothing to provoke excitement, with all this put together i cannot be a fan of football in Qatar.

Hi, it is easy!!!

What i think is to analyze the density of population in Qatar then try to analyze the population that they love football Arabic or asian or europeen, if the qatari clubs recruit a famous football player from the most population automatically you will get fans supporting the club and it will a great challange between club and fans...

lets take an example if they recruit an famous indian player to one club here in qatar all indians fans will come to stadium without any encouragement or gifts same for arab countries...

thanks for reading my comments...

I live near a stadium and it is usually full when there is a car and goodies on offer via ticket holding attendees.

Also, there was an article once, where in the organizers took bus load of laborers from their camp to the stadium. It would be good if there where given a hamper of fluids and food.

Just my thoughts. I may be wrong.

The simple reason is that most are NOT interested in football. I have attended football matches in GCC. many locals just go along to pass the time, chat to their friends or sit texting. They don't have any real interest in the sport.
