Celebrating young entrepreneurs
The world’s largest celebration of innovators and job creators, Global Entrepeneurship Week, is being held all over the world from the 18th to the 22nd of November 2013.
On Sunday evening a gala was held, officially declaring the Doha event open.
The GEW will run for four consecutive days.
This year, the organizers have widened the scope of the workshops and sessions, which will take place in two venues - Renaissance Doha City Center Hotel (West Bay City Center, Al Wahda Street) and Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar VCUQatar (Al Luqta Street, Education City, Doha, Qatar).
The Opening Ceremony Gala Dinner featured an awards ceremony celebrating winners of The Enterprise Challenge Qatar 2013's University competition. A total of 430 students from 9 universities and 6 high schools participated in this year's Challenge.
The award for first place went to Team "Qatarans" of Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, who made a net profit of QAR 37 million in the final round of the business simulation.
Second place went to Team "Kregs Co" of Texas A&M University in Qatar, with a net profit of QAR 30 million and third place went to Team "High Flyer" from Stenden University in Qatar, who made a net profit of QAR 28 million.
