Should they do so

Should people who have fortune and normal people give charity?
If yes why?
If no why?

Three kids and an father and a mother who he is looking after, he/she will never be richer if people give poor people charity regularly, also helping others is beneficial because tomorrow or in any coming day you might find your self need a help.

Bring to their families and schools for their children , clothes, ....etc. in all cases these people will need to work

chameleon, for me charity is not a subject to feel good about myself, but to hopefully make others feel better.

Of course, if and when that happens, it does make one feel better. Never the less, this can not be the main objective.

The main objective, IMHO, must be to do something so others can change their lives to the better.

Charity should not have any distinction. It should be a sincere and voluntary act to give to others whether monetary, in kind or in act. Try it and you feel better inside:)

gmz. I agree. Wealth should be shared and the flow of money should never stagnate.

Point is, money should be used to help others help themselves.

Man if you guys want a rich person who gives his money away always, Bill Gates. To the point where he is known for it, and a lot of people who hate microsoft lookup to him.

So giving also gives you respect, and people will admire you for doing the right thing.

On topic if you can you should in anyway, some people sadly try to get jobs but can't. So they might need money.

There was one story from my teacher after 9/11, there was huge economic problem in the US, where to point he couldn't get a job at starbucks, because a nuclear engineer already applied for the job he was going to apply to.

So the morale give if you can, cause you might be in need later.

But then SA, if you're making those 60% and 10% give all that money to the poorer people, why would the poorer people work? More importantly, why would the people earning all that money work so hard to earn it if they're being forced to give it away.

You can't force people to give away money to fund the poor. It creates resentment and a welfare state.

Giving charity should be a personal thing and not forced..

Having said that, just giving charity is not the answer. You must use the money to alleviate poverty and help those people move above the poverty line.

A country where

10 % of its population their annual income is 10,000,000 QAR

60 % of its population their annual income is 1,000,000 QAR

30 % of its population their annual income is 36,500 QAR (Poverty)

What wiil happen if the first two the 10 % and 60 % gives an amount of 2.5 % of their annual income to the 30 % (poor), assume that country population is 10,000,000 citizen.

Give a man fish, and he will eat for a day. Teach a man how to fish, and he will eat for a lifetime (or until there are no more fishes...but I digress).

Which is why, while it is good to give to charity, we have to choose the right organization that will help people uplift themselves.

Charity can "reduce" poverty, but it can't get rid of it.

on US or UK and I am sure you will be shocked how can charity reduces poverty,

By nomerci• 10 Dec 2012 15:13

One should help in a way that they then can help themselves.

Just to give money is not the answer.

Aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!

I totaly agree with Miss Mimi :O(

I don't think anyone gives enough charity to meaningfully reduce poverty. More, people given enough to make poverty bearable.

The people with all the money still keep far too much of it to really reduce poverty. And of course there's the whole: teach a man to fish, thing.

well if the poor become richer "than us", then they will start giving "us" charity

Let me rephrase it

would giving charity helps to reduce poverty if every who can give charity do it in a regular way?

Will it reduce hard feeling between poor and rich people?

I remember my Spanish friend started laughing when I said that all people who can afford giving charity should do it, he said no way then poor people will become reicher than us.

I am from the middle class (normal) so you can give me if you have fortune.

should always help the lesser fortunate, in any way possible. This is one way how poverty can be reduced, by distributing one's excess wealth among those who need it.

That said it always amazes and touches me to see generosity among those we would have assumed needy themselves. They may have very little and yet they are so giving and selfless..such people are truly worthy of praise!

if you can afford it, then "yes" is the answer.

See? Very easy

By anonymous• 10 Dec 2012 14:34

Alright

I guess to answer the 2 questions:

If yes why?

Because they can afford it

If no why?

Because they can't afford it

Not sure what you mean by "normal" people, but I think anyone who can afford to should give to those less fortunate in whatever way they can. If you can't afford to give a cheque, give used clothes, food, used toys, etc etc etc.
