Calling all Sufis

hippiehijabi
By hippiehijabi

Helloooo all....

Honestly not expecting much of a response to this. Then again, you never know.

As a Sufi I'm really missing the gathering/collective/togetherness of being with like-minded people. I would love to meet/gather with some sufis or people interested in mysticism from whatever corner of the world they may be from... Would love to share ideas/perspectives.

Interested to know if there's anyone similar out there who might be interested in meeting up to get tea/shisha/meditate/host a zhikr....

Would really love to see if there are any other sufis or contemplative Muslim types out there like myself...

As for me, I'm South African by descent, born in the West, moved to Doha less than a year ago.

Love music (all kinds) and am in love with Allah and his prophet... I adore Rumi and I like animals. Very open minded.

Anyone at all?

If the divine is found through ablutions

surely frogs and fish would find him first

if the divine is hidden in jungles

the cattle would have discovered him by now

O Bulleh, the divine is found by those

Enough of learning, my friend!

You meditate and you say your prayers

You go and shout at the top of the stairs

You cry reaching the high skies

It's your avarice which ever belies

Enough of learning, my friend!

The day I learnt love's lesson

I plunged into the river of devine passion

An overwhelming gale. I was confused and lost

When my guide cruised me across

Enough of learning, my friend!

Enough of learning, my friend!

An alphabet should do for you

To it there is never an end

An alphabet should do for you

It's enough to help you fend.

Enough of learning, my friend!

You've amassed much learning around

The Quran and its commentaries profound

There is darkness amidst lighted ground

Without the guide you remain unsound

Enough of learning, my friend!

Learning makes you Sheikh or his minion

And thus you create problem trillion

You exploit oyhers who know not what

Misleading them with wild opinion

Whenever a religion is alive, it is because Sufism is alive within it. Whenever a religion is dead, it shows only that the spirit, the Sufi spirit, has left it. Now there is only a corpse, howsoever decorated - in philosophy, metaphysics, in dogmas, doctrines - but whenever Sufism has left, religion stinks of death. This has happened many times. This is happening already almost all over the world. One has to be aware of it, otherwise one can go on clinging to a dead corpse.

There are religions and religions, but Sufism is THE religion - the very heart, the innermost core, the very soul.

Sufism is not part of Islam; rather, on the contrary, Islam is part of Sufism. Sufism existed before Mohammed ever was born, and Sufism will exist when Mohammed is completely forgotten. Islams come and go; religions take form and dissolve; Sufism abides, continues, because it is not a dogma. It is the very heart of being religious.

You may not ever have heard of Sufism and you may be a Sufi - if you are religious. Krishna is a Sufi, and Christ too; Mahavir is a Sufi, and Buddha too - and they never heard about the word, and they never knew that anything likeSufism exists.

You have learnt so much

And read a thousand books.

Have you ever read your Self?

You have gone to mosque and temple.

Have you ever visited your soul?

You are busy fighting Satan.

Have you ever fought your

Ill intentions?

You have reached into the skies,

But you have failed to reach

What's in your heart!

so what is the difference between sufi and normal muslim?

By smartmachine• 29 Jan 2013 22:28

Sufism is a self cleansing and total surrender. In modern world the confusions arrived to mixing of different thoughts. Where as true sufi always on the line of Islam. The total surrender is the prerequisite to travel on this route. Regards.

I once watched a documentary about Jalaluldin Al-Rumi and sufism in Turkey. I thought it was very interesting. Something that I'd definitely like to learn more about and learn from, and then I'm out again.

So I'm up for any gathering or discussion.

I only say "sufi" because most mainstream "muslims" don't approve of Sufi thoughts/practices/beliefs. So I say it only to target a certain audience.
