Pakistan: New Born Baby Passport

BilalPakistan
By BilalPakistan

To Get a Passport for a new born baby, you must get a Birth Certificate first from Hamad Hospital -Women's Branch (3rd Floor).
(Process explained in my other post)

Pakistan Embassy is located on West Bay. If you are coming from Airport side towards Sheraton on the Corniche, keep going straight on the corniche road.

You'll pass by the sheraton round about (Al Dafna round about), Four Seasons hotel and then two traffic lights. After that keep in right most lane and as soon as u take the curve on the raod, Pak Embassy is on your right side. The flag is not quite visible from distance, coz of the curve and trees. so go slow to not miss it :)

Ok, the process. You'll need these documents:

-Original and copy of Birth Certificate

-3 photographs of 2x2 inches with a light blue backgroud. Make sure baby's face is straight, without a cap or wrap on his face and u r able to see both his ears

-Original and copy of PArents passports

-Copies of Parents RP and Qatari IDs

-Copy of Marriage Certificate

-Copies of NICOP/NIC of both parents

-Duly filled Form B (attached) -fill it in Capital letters with black ink
-Put a thumb impression (use black stamp pad) of baby (for males, left thumb impression and for females, right thumb impression)

-Passport fee of QAR145 for Normal and QAR 245 for urgent passport (get it the same or next day)

You can download the forms from this link (go to the bottom of the page and download Passport Form B, NICOP]

http://pakmissiondoha.com/

When you enter the embassy, go to the portacabin on ur left side, it has Doha Bank counter. Give cashier the forms and pay the fee. Take the receipt and go inside the main building

Go to the room on your right, u will see PASSPORT AND VISA counter on the right.

Submit the documents with payment receipt and you're done with it. :)

P.S After u get the passport, apply for a NICOP there and then. Take the filled forms with u when u go to receive the passport and submit the application.

Doha Embassy only issues Manual Passports for New born babies with an expiry of Six months. It is advised to apply for a Machine Readable PAssport soon after u get the Resident Permit of baby. Getting the manual passport is important so u can finish the visa formalities, get insurance and may travel if required.
Machine Readable passports take time so you should not keep ur baby un-registered during all this time.

Hope it helps

Goodluck!

So whilst i applied for it, they took my NICOP and issued me a SMART card saying no more NICOPS.

But now they just issued a NICOP for my son, instead of a SMART Card.

FYI

The Government of pakistan launched SMART cards few months back. The idea was to have one ID card for all and replace the NICOP, so overseas pakistanis will have one SMART CARD which will work both in and outside Pakistan.

Similarly all residents of pakistan will also get the same card.

But heard some news later on that they have suspended the project coz of some operational issues with the production/lamination being outsourced to a UK based company.

Not sure what are the updates on it now.

After you get the passport, you can get the residnet permit of the baby and travel to and from pakistan and any other country which still accepts manual passports.

The validity of this passport will be 6 months

OK NICOP!!!

The processing time of NICOP is around 2.5 to 4 months.

As soon as you get the passport, apply for NICOP.

Carefuly fill the form in capital letters, better type it in adobe acrobat and make sure the typed/written letters do not touch the edges. As its an OCR form so 4 coould be confused with A and S with 5 so write it well with black ink. :)

You should also fill it in Urdu. And get it attested (on the bottom) by any other pakistani, other than parents of the baby. You just need his/her NIC number and signature.

Other than that, You'll need the following supporting docs:

-Passport copy of Baby's passport

-Copies of Parents' NICOP/CNIC

-Copies of Parents' passports and Resident Permits

-NICOP Fee receipt of QAR45

You'll get a receipt which has a tracking number on top. You can therefore see the status of ur application on nadra's website.

Although getting NICOP in pakistan takes much less time but there you'll need to get the "bay" form first to apply for it.

I hope i have not missed anythin' :) feel free to lemme know

Cheers!

Hi,

I have been thru the process so just thought, the info might make it convenient for others.

I explained the Birth Certificate process in my other post

http://www.qatarliving.com/node/6576136

Its alright even if ur baby is born in a different health center, just take that vaccination card and Hamad Medical Cards of parents. It must have a registration number on it with a bar code.

And you do not need to go to Supreme council, its a one window thing.

Just take these documents to Women's Hospital in Hamad Hospital, Al Sadd and they will do it all for you and issue the certificate on behalf of Supreme Council. I got it from there.

However, in case you're asked to go to Supreme Council, its situated near Civil Defence Round about, a big glassy building on your right side while coming from west bay towards Qatar bowling center. I am sorry am not aware of their timings, as i didn't have to go there.

NICOP is a must for all expatriates. I am not sure but i guess you'll have to get NICOP for you and your wife. And during the process, you'll Get the Protector, State life insurance and registration as overseas pakistani.

But it is Important, even if you don't need it now, you must have it. Otherwise, without the protector, you'll not be allowed to travel from pakistan next time you go there.

I suggest, get the birth certificate, apply for your and wife's NICOP, take a copy of payment receipts, attach it with the application of new born's passport and submit.

After your baby's passport is done, get her/his NICOP too.

Thanks Bilal..

Nice information you have shared, but you missed the first part of the story. Please explain also about Birth certificate, specially for the babies who are not born in women’s hospital.

in my case my baby born in Al Hamad (Al khor) they issued me Non-Qatari vaccination card and advice me to proceed registration in supreme council.

1- What are the timings of Supreme council, either they are working in evening time or not. Please guide if you have information.

2- One more thing, Me & my wife don’t have NICOP (qatar) can we proceed registration, passport and RP?

Thank you again for guiding the needful peoples.

Take the original NICOP/NIC of both parents too, just in case they ask.
