Why is there a stigma to a man looking after his child at home whilst wife works. Funny that as my child will have the bond that most try to get with the child through buying presents. When I got married, my husband want me to be a "house"-wife. I would love to do just that...but then I got my 2 kids to support to school and I don't want to be FINANCIALLY DEPENDENT to my husband. So, I kept my job.
Besides, he works offshore for 5 weeks and 1 week he spends time with his 2 kids an grandchildren...and comes home to me. That's how it'll be for the next year or two until we're both financially stable and retire.
Bottom line, it still a decision to be made by the couple that would work for their relationship.
it is a team deciscion, mayby the outside comments are taking in consideration but there for shure not overruling what we as a married couple decide to do,.in wich we have a equale vote
this is crucial in any marriage, that the couple learn to make important decisions together as a team, and not have society and/or those around them dictating to them what they should do.
Most men expect things from their wives what they have seen in their mothers but the best is to work it out with their wives and optimise to ensure adequate cash flow, normal raising of their children and aspirations of their wives.
Old ideas and paradigms should change with the changing times...as was the case with me.

and so do I to be honest.In my hubby's case it's cos as a kid, since his parents split, he never had his mom at home since she had to work to support them. And though he truly loves her to bits and is most grateful for all her sacrifices, he often wished that when he gets married his wife will be a stay at home kinda mom.In my case after having had no option but to work since I left school, I appreciate having the choice now to stay at home. So Alhamdulillah this arrangement suits us both. I do freelance work every now and then though, just so my education and skills don't go to waste.
my wife holds a university degree is a professional in here field, but when we got kids she preferred to be a house mom untill the smallest one has finished elementery school .
if she would make more money then me,.i would stay home and she would work for a company,.
Good question. It all depends on circumstances and people involved. Some men, even in dire circumstances do not want their wives to go out and work. Other men prefer that the wife does not sit at home, but goes out and earn. Sharing the earnings is also a matter of choice.
As far as respect is concerned, it should never be correlated to the wife's working/non-working status. A good man will respect a good wife either way :)
My husband says work till we are 2 earn hard and save good for the time till we become 3. Then take care of me and my kids. sound better and i agree to it.
Life partner means everything after the marriage, specially if a wife she have lot more responses than a man, my wish my wife should be at home, coz women prefer to do that, what i mean women have rights to study and do jobs and everything but when the marriage binds with a man it should be bit a sacrifice as wife,daughter,mother and as a good sister for that she need some time left on her day, man can't fill that space, and if wife busy with her works or business it's collapse everything, which i saw in some countries like USA & all , from child hood the kids living away from the mothers nearest love, and also lot of problems, i'am not blaming on women it because she don't have enough time to do, when she woke up she starts like a machine, then when she back to home she tired no time for kids and for other stuff, a man seek an awesome welcome when he back from hard & busy work, but a busy wife failed to do coz she also the same, that have led to divorce either, i have seen many. so i like my wife to be at home coz lot of happiness depends from her end.

Different people will have different perspectives towards this one.A working wife will help her husband financially and to manage the household budget together,but even a stay-at-home wife can help to a large extent in the household financial matters especially if she is educated.A lot of people say a stay-at-home wife will help raise their kids better and give her husband better quality time.I personally prefer a highly educated stay-at-home wife.I'm not against working wives and mothers though.Just my personal opinion.

IMHO.....only circumstances could tell and force a woman to either to work or devote more time at home with family.
One need to be flexible in this approach and keep the option open.

I think it's really hard to live here without working partner to share house expenses.
