CBQ has got worst customer service
By sangeethssp •
Wow.. Commercial Bank of Qatar... what a customer service!!!
CBQ frozen my bank account for cancelling credit card... after complaining they are keeping QAR 5000 on hold!!
And not giving a clearance letter even after 3 weeks and nobody in bank knows why!!
Those who wants a perfect trouble, please open an account in CBQ!
My CBQ ATM card expired.
I have to apply for a new one via the app
The app is missing some personal details
In order to update the personal details I have to enter a valid CBQ card pin number..!!
The CS staff couldn't help with this weird situation..!! :D
I opened a bank account with CBQ because I had some problems with HSBC. It didn't help, the banks are as bad as each other.
Yesterday, my wife and I both had out CBQ debit cards deactivated for online transactions. I've spent about 2 hours total on the phone with their customer service. Each time I call them, they tell me to create a travel plan and that will activate my debit card. I've made 3 travel plans already and they didn't help at all.
Be careful with Commercialbank (my experience too).
Make sure you have an official record on paper for closing of account, credit card, debit card, etc.
Why risk displaying your account number ?

Dear Sir / Madam,
This is to inform you that above mentioned bank account have been operating with you since the year 2005 and obtained 3 personal loans as well.
Recently you have deducted QR 2,100 un ethically as cheque returned fees since 2014. This is a first time I heard that the bank charging such a fees accumulated basis without deducting when the time the transaction has occurred and it’s unacceptable. On the other hand that I can’t bear such an unpredictable amount from my salary at once.
I request here with to credit back the entire amount that you have charged unethically.
If not that I will compel to close my bank account with you and move forward with another bank.
CBQ is the best bank ! I never had any problems dealing with them.
Always quick to respond ! May be your salary is too less. That is why they are not bothered to listen to you.
......you opened an account there!!!...after 6 months you'll be saying Mashreq is the worst bank in Qatar.
wrong choice mate. wait and watch...
I had returned the credit card more than 4 weeks back to the bank and Mashreq bank(i opened a/c there) had provided them with a guarantee letter for the credit card as well.
CBQ initially claimed they didnot receive the letter and then i e-mailed them the copy of it.
Good news is that i got the letter today evening after a long struggle..
MM...I dont know what to say. Am speechless and you are too humble...:)
Is 5,000 your credit limit? I''m about to cancel my credit card from CBQ. They would ideally keep some security before giving a clearance so i do hope they do not keep the security equivalent to my credit limit - cause they generally give a limit of 3 times your salary.
You have got what a leader needs , Congrats !
I bow to you ..
posting on ql might improve their service so far nice improvement
As there is no customer service in Qatar, logically CBQ cannot have the worst customer service. It just doesn't exist.
Commercial Bank service is excellent. Don’t make such general loose statement and defame them just because you had some issues.
They will definitely freeze the account anticipating that you might have used it prior to cancelling the card.
May be you are the worst customer with zero knowledge in banking.
Sorry, I don't agree with you.. I believe QNB has got the worst customer service
Reason: I read more threads on QL about QNB's poor customer services.
You should have queried these things when you opened your bank/credit card with them. Usually they will hold the credit limit amount of your credit card for 45 days to cover a any expenses incurred during the time of closing the credit card account. So your clearance letter will be only issued once that's cleared. Also if your current bank account is connected with the credit card, it will be blocked for the credit limit of your credit card. Cheers, these are normal circumtances when it comes to closing an account in any bank.
Might be useful if banks actually open at a convenient time for their customers. Must be hard for their staff to cram so much into a 5 days week when only open for a few hours each day.
CBQ has some very strong competition in the worst customer services stakes. All banks employ the cheapest people possible and it's a bonus if they have any brain cells.
Generally speaking complaints of this sort apply to the entire spectrum of the businesses here. So in fact you have no other alternative. The next one will behave exactly the same. They need to print their dictionaries afresh (the old ones to be thrown in sea) and include in larger fonts the words like professionalism, integrity and customer service and may be every day when they open their shops the employees be asked to stand together and repeat those words and the meaning thereof loudly for atleast 20 times...hopefully after 5-6 years of such uninterrupted practice we may see some 2-3 % change in their attitude….:)
