Where is NLC franchised taxi service?
NLC wins bid to operate taxi service (as reported Gulf Times of 5/12/11)
//National Leasing Company (NLC) has won the bid to operate taxi services in the country. The company, which would be the second service provider, will operate 500 cabs and is expected to be launched on July 1, 2012. “We are proud of our achievements as we realise we are on the path of sustained development and growth to keep up with the plans set by the government,” Sheikh Falah bin Jassim bin Jabor al-Thani, NLC chairman, said, announcing its bid won from Mowasalat. Khalid Nasir al-Hail, CEO of NLC, said attaining this bid was the fruit of the sincere efforts done by the company.//
It's almost the end of September 2012 but there is still no sign of any Alijarah (NLC) franchised taxis running on the streets of Doha. Wonder why the 2nd taxi franchisee is also unable to launch the taxi service on time? The first Karwa taxi franchisee, Al Million, failed to launch its taxi service on schedule, too. It was finally launched in July this year. Is Mowasalat, the Karwa taxi franchisor, taking any action to ensure the Karwa franchisees abide by the franchise agreement?
I can bet with you that the 2nd franchised taxi operator, NLC (Alijarah), will not be able kick off the taxi service from 1 Jan 2013. As I've read in Gulf Times, from 1 Jan 2013, Petro Qatar, the 3rd franchised taxi operator, is required to start its taxi service and not NLC. Something is not usual with the Karwa franchise system. Wonder if the relevant authority is aware of the happenings surrounding these 2 franchised taxi companies?
