Process in acquiring Residence Permit
Fellow QLers, can anyone be so kind to advise what are the specific procedures in the processing of Residence Permit in Qatar?
My husband has been in Doha since July 1st 2012. And if we have timed it right, his company's PRO has started his Residence Permit application since his second week in the country.
Hubby finished his medical and fingerprinting requirements already, what happens after this?
What are the remaining procedures before he actually get the physical copy of his RP?
We were supposed to join him in Doha 1st week of this month, but to this date we are not in the know of things with regard to his RP status....
Please guide us so we can manage our expectation as well.
Many thanks in advance to all.
Just an update:
My husband was able to check his RP status online. But no, his PRO didn't give the reference number to him. He just got his visa number and luckily he knew his PRO's code so there - he now have his reference number :)
Status online is saying something like the application request has been received by MOI. Does that mean he can now proceed with the signing of his labour contract already?
Thank you ahrafkkm333, will try to get the reference number and check at the website. :)
I think he is referring to the Labour contract. Yes, it is mandatory to process the RP, and it will take just one or two days. And ask your husband to check the status of the RP Application through the ministry website www.moi.com.qa. Once the RP is completed the very next day your husband can apply for visit visa and you can join him as planned. Later you can apply for family residence visa. That is the best way. Good luck and welcome to Qatar
Thank you all. Sadly we do not have a reference number to check online. We are on the standby for updates from my husband's PRO.
Btw, we heard from his PRO about a certain contract signing with the ministry. Anyone in the know about this? Thank you.

Normally The pro submit the application to ministry for approval with the required documents like , marriage , education , residential , salary certifate etc.
The requirement of documents vary from company to company so your pro should know what are the documents required to submit for RP
so once the appelication form and documents areh submitted to the ministry they will provide a visa application number to the PRO and thats your reference number and with that you can verify the visa status online from the ministry webiste.
normall the process is 2- 3 weeks so it always better to check the status online and follow up , delay could occur because of missing documents.
all the best
Once the finger print is done it must not take more than 3-5 days...Finger prints are updated in system within 2 days and onwards RP will take 2 days
@klawal4real - I think you have posted in the wrong thread. :)

Oops sorry double post.
Thanks for the input! I guess we just ahve to wait for that "next week" to actually happen. :(
Have a nice day ahead.
Thank you LincolnPirate. Sorry for my ignorance, what is a mandoub? Is it arabic term for PRO?
He did ask several times already, but it's always just "Next week we will do your RP."
So my husband is still left hanging.
I want to know if after the fingerprint is done, what will be the next procedure? Considering of course that everything is in order. And how many days that next procedure(s) would take (just approx).
Many thanks!
Normally an RP takes no more than three working days if all requirements are met.
Yes, he is the "Pro". And the "next week" is the typical answer you get from the "Pro". But, trust me, people on QL know everything better, but sometimes it's just not right. Have a nice day.

The people on QL know exactly what your problem is! But the mandoub of your husband's company or the company itself know better. Maybe you give them a call?
