Prevalence of single workers in public areas

Turned off by the “alarming number” of laborers who spent their Eid holidays on the Corniche and in parks, some families are saying Qatar should do more to check the gathering of single workers in public areas.

So if Qatar bans them from gathering in the city, the question remains, where do they go?

yes I think that all expats should be confined to the other end of the corniche...........In a sort of a bullring type thing.....We could all partake in running away from a lion that would be placed in the centre......or some jousting would be fun.....it would be marginally more exciting than any other form of Doha entertainment methinks!

friend, they are also human beings.always think once to down instead of thinking too high.people who get 800-1500 how they can bring their family here.with out them who is going to build 7 star hotels, metro's,even to fuel your car...those people are the back bone of each and every thing build in this sandy place.so pls dont ignore them,a family is waiting for them back home tooo...

Glad they did not encroach private area... but were in public area ...lol.

Qatar will have to decide where it will "hide" the single workers from Asian Countries during the 2020 games...

I read the subject and smiled but as I kept scrolling down I had this calm smile along with the peaceful heart that there are people who feel it for the rest of the humans.

I am a single and was working along such people on the North East of Qatar (Ras Lafan) for almost 5 years and would have been put in a same basket as the rest of the people we are referring to and I really feel the things these people do. I don’t live there anymore but I feel troubled when people (only few) think so unenthusiastically about the people who are consecrated in some other ways unlike us. The people who do not have all the luxuries but are at peace.

And so what if they come to the city for two days and spend all their time over here, they deserve it. JUST 2/3 DAYS IN A YEAR, DOES THAT REALLY WOUNDS YOUR SOUL!??? I don’t think so. These people are working in Ras Lafan, Dukhan and Industrial area, in tremendous heat and humidity where most of us are sitting in Air Cons and moving in luxuries cars all chilled up with the Air Con.

I'd be happy to see these people enjoy the life of Doha for as much as they want, they are Human Beings and have equal right of this earth that God/Allah has blessed them with. Just because they aren’t literate because their parents did not have means to pay for the education does not mean we take their right to relax away from them. They don’t break no law, so.....

Live and Let Live!!!

PEACE!!!

this ban is applicable those people who is in tan/black color. If its a 'white'... mafi mushkila, kalliwallii... have observed in many areas... Go to any mall/villaggio for the day of families... whites don't have to face any difficulties... Even the security itself feel fear to question them and block.

One country - Multiple ruled for same kind.

Haha.. How strange. There are many influential ladies on QL who have in the past advocated family days.

The sad fact is that these "Singles" have nowhere to go - especially during the holidays. They, like you and I want to have some fun and take a break from their monotonous existence.

Surely, they can be "tolerated" for a few days during eid ..

For a change these families can go to industrial area and clean up the place of these laborers...they will get their space and would end up doing some good healthy work....and yeah pl. carry your BBQ, I know you would like to eat immediately to make up for those lost milligrams...:)

How about we build them an underground world where they can all exist happily :-)

By Colt45• 26 Aug 2012 08:06

people will never stop complaining :-(

So will 'ALL' the single workers, irrespective of country of origin be subject to this, or is it only for workers from a particular part of the world?

How ridiculous. They are called 'public' areas for a reason - anyone can go there. So they are happy for these guys to build and tend the city but they shouldn't spend any time there? I think the entertainment area for bachelors is a good idea, at least they're trying to provide something for them. Surely they just want something to do in their free time like the rest of us?
