Golf buddies required

By SMNewport

I will be coming to Doha in mid-October and am a very keen golfer. I will be looking to play with a some new golf-buddies; so if anyone else is either in the same position OR is already there and looking for new partners; drop me a line.

My handicap at my home club ( a brutally tough links track in Somerset) is 12; whereas my online handicap allowing for every round played this year is 5.

Anyway, drop me a line if you wanna hit balls.

Hello Scott,

Wife has played, but she's not a golfer. She enjoys playing in scramble tourneys where there is not much pressure....but not sure there is much of that here.

Looking forward to getting out soon.

Hi Skip,

I will be sure to get in touch once I land :)

I have played the Academy course at Doha (good condition and not as expensive). I intend practising there a lot too; so will defeinitely try and set up a small golf buddy group.

Stay in touch. Does your wife play too? I ask because my girlfriend who will be coming out next year also plays.

Hello Scott,

I just arrived into Doha myself (mid-July) and am an avid golfer too. Wife and I came here from Hawaii where I played to a 10 handicap playing many different courses. I never passed on an opportunity to play -- which I haven't had here yet.

Currently in the middle of getting settled, getting residency permit, car, and driver's license. Have not made it out to the Doha Golf Club what with Ramadan just ending and the heat (and the new job), but intend to shortly.

When you arrive, e-mail me at [email protected] and can add you to what I hope will be a regular group. (as regular as you can get in Doha anyway).

All I have learned at this point is that it is hard to get out on weekends (Friday and Saturday here) and is fairly expensive....
