Attestation of documents in the UK

Colin Campbell
By Colin Campbell

Just wanted to warn anyone planning to get certificates attested in the UK.
Sorry to report that I used a comapany called Vital Certificates, in Batley, West Yorkshire.
http://www.vitalcertificates.co.uk/

They have had my CRB and two certificates now for 6 weeks... and they I am still waiting. Each phone call gets a diffrenet excuse and different staff tell a different story each time I phone! At one stage they blamed the Qatar Embassy for the delay - Ramadam etc... but it turns out the documents hadn't even been sent there at that stage. They were held up at the FCO.
Please avoid the stress that I have endured and avoid this company like the plague. It is better to visit the FCO and embassy in person and do the stuff yourself.
Kind regards
Colin

It is notoriously difficult to get certificates attested in the UK, they don't really get it. It is also ludicrously expensive. In my experience, it is better to just use a solicitor practice you know and trust and let them sort it out. It shouldn't be that hard but I generally find any dealings with the UK are stressful.

Can I also add that it is so unusual to attest certificates in the UK, most people have never heard of it so it is not surprising that people struggle. nothing to do with being independent but what a charming little patronising response, I am sure Colin, as a presumably highly qualified expat whose skills have enabled him to be brought to Qatar, will relish and appreciate the support and encouragement to be more independent.

Gah, every single time i return to this site i remember why i don't bother anymore. People post perfectly sensible things and get hit with purile ignorance.

Sorry to hear of your misery Colin in getting your documents legalised.

I know this won't help you right now but for any others out there that need it doing, I used:-

http://www.cdn-consular.co.uk/

They did the notary, legalisation and embassy on 2 documents and it came to about 250 pounds. All came back within 7 days. Expensive but I received good service.

I am in no way linked with this company, only sharing my experience.
