Need advice....

I am staying in a villa partition more than 2 years. The guy took the cheques for one year and told you can vacate any time but you need to inform me at least two weeks before. He didn’t give any agreement. Now I planned to move and requested him to return the balance cheques. He is threatening me to pay for another two months to return the cheque. He is a non-Qatari and the villa is not in his name but took the cheques in his name (may be playing like a mediator and taking commission). How can I get the cheques back?

Its illegal to partion .
The caretaker sometime acts like Qatari, they assume the managing and sometime act like owner of the villa because the caretaker expects the owner of the villa will support his decision even in illegal way. I have similar experiences every re-contract I am paying yearly half commission because the caretaker will say “take it or leave it”. I only love the place and the rent is inexpensive.

Dont pay him anything as there is no contract as such....
but for the post dated cheques already issued, i am not sure how to get it back.
