Are people going to make a post on Qatar living now every time there is a fire? Did you know before the villagio fire there is about an average of 13 fires a week in Qatar?
Villagio only made news because it was a populated area and there was causalities.
Fires happen. No need to mention every fire that happens unless people die.
..and road accidents happen too.
For sometime until it cools down or time passes, it appears all fires in Doha will be of some concern..As Avam says the fire fighters do what they can and will put themselves in harms way if they think they can save a life..
I'm more concerned with building codes, proper inspections and routine evacuation drills..
Where I work we have routine fire drills to evac the building..
I am curious, if others experience these type of drills..or if there are routine check of your fire alarms...
If your in a high rise building and there is a fire below you...What would you do??
Have you thought about it?
Ladies, if your in an office building, do you keep sneakers near your desk, or another type of shoe that is easy to put on that you can move quickly in..that wouldn't come off easily?
Heels are nice, but when you have to move and a crowd is pushing you, would they stay on your feet??
Do you know what type of fire suppression is required for your building??
Do you know what to do if you have a kitchen fire?
How to put out an oil based fire?
Do you know the difference of A,B,C type fire extinguishers?
How prepared are you to handle an emergency?
I am sure the fire chief's of the area, would welcome coming to your company and giving a brief..
It could be any emergency, not just a fire.. that could require you to evac a building in a fast and safe manner as possible..
Fire fighters, thank you...
yes, there was fire ....but in my kitchen. I was cooking food. You need to have fire you know, to cook food.
How did you know?
Incidents of fire aren't new in Doha or any other cities around the world.Hot summer is a catalyst to increased incidents of fire in the urban areas. It could be from overworked and overheated HVAC system, overloading of electrical circuits leading to failure ,heating and fire.
Doha fire department are quite disciplined and well trained to attend to such mishaps.
Fire fighters are screw loose people allover the world and rise to the occasion in saving lives and properties of the residents as witnessed in Villagio last week .They have their limitations and at times, may not be able to rescue all trapped persons in dangerous/hazardous situations.
Availability of cheap and low quality extension wires, plugs, sockets, energy saving bulbs, non standard domestic appliances like sandwich makers, toasters, blenders, room heaters, lamp shades and human forgetfulness in putting off vent fans(one of the biggest culprits) and except glass and steel alll our furnishings are highly flammable(I can go on and on).By the way what about darting that burning cigarette butt in target practice?
What can we do from our side to keep our homes and work place safe?
Is it not my responsiblity to avert such events by being more alert and taking precautions to a plethora of hazardous things around me?
In such situation every second counts and help may be late by a few minutes!
Open your eyes
and
ACT NOW!!!!!!!!!!
hot climate........needs to be more careful
Not heard in the news anywhere.
