Bring my maid from dubai to Qatar
We are an American family living in dubai and transferring to Qatar.
We have a maid under our sponsorship.
I know we can enter Qatar with a visa at the airport...but can we take her along with us...and then would it be possible to obtain her residency visa with us in Qatar once we get ours.

Typically employers require cancellation of RP before final settlement of benefits.

UAE RP does not become invalid once Qatari RP is stamped.I had family friends who had valid RPs of both the countries for several years albeit they had to pay additional charges for retaining UAE RP in Qatar.

what is really annoying is the lack of any informative websites in qatar....
i called their embassy here in dubai and they said the maid can enter with me ...stay for a month and then renew for another month.....so atleast i would have settled by then...and then we'll see how to adjust her status...i hope it can be solved by paying some money...that's how it is here in dubai...

Why would we have to cancel our UAE residency before we leave?.....we can go to Qatar
Avail a visa at the airport....take our maid with us(I assume she can enter if under our sponsorship?!) and then after we settle ...we cancel our UAE residency hence our maid's as well...obtain our QR and start the process of getting our maid's QR.

No, actually too many Nos. I assume that your UAE residency will be cancelled before leaving Dubai, that won't happen till the maid's RP is canceled as well. So she would no longer be able to enter Qatar "with you" even though you can get a visa at the airport. I took my maid to Oman during our vacation, we got airport visa for all, but she was under our sponsorship then.
You can arrange with one of the maid agencies here to re-recruit her once your Qatar RP is completed.
I would not bother with this. You are probably coming to Qatar to work for a company. Let them do the necessary and make your maid a condition of the contract!
