All about security!

The perfomance of the security guards in villagio is very poor.On the sad incident of fire they behaved quite unprofessionally! So civil diffense should initiate to give proffessional training and license for security guards.Security companies didn't give adequate training and salary according to the living cost.So professional and educated peoples now keep distance with this field.Qatar govt.should follow Abudabi in this matter, they give professional training, license and a minimum salary of 2000+OT.

eigroj..

it matters..

you cannot just turn someone into a security guard by just training them..

you cannot just let a person drive a school bus if hes not a driver..

For just clarification regarding security personnel was also blamed for villagio fire. Please do check what security company villagio hired before we keep blaming all security.

in my opinion it doesn't matter if they are labourers dress in security guard uniform, what matter is they should give trainings specially on safety and emergencies.

When you bring labourers who are used to working in the fields back home in their countries and dress them in the security guards uniform, pay them measely and petty salaries and then expect them to perform the job of professional security guards. This is where the whole problem lies.

In almost all cases security will never take the fire fighter or ambulance persons' role.

They need the order from the higher ups.

Now think...even a 'fire figher' will not run on his own when there is a call.

The top senior will give instructions..... then they will come at the front as you said.

security is not at the lowest end they are at the front end....

It takes just two minutes for a fire to destroy an average sized room, in many cases it normally takes more than that time for the civil defence to reach the scene. The security personnel should have been conducting an evacuation of the building at the initial stage of the fire to prevent fatalities but where were they? Who else will the shoppers and shopkeepers rely on but the security personnel in cases of emergencies? They are only very active at family days shooing away bachelors at the gate but when it comes to protecting the public (their primary responsibility)...

"Did this nursery meet the conditions to get a licence?" This question has to be addressed to the social affairs ministry.

The public is angry and awaits answers over how it was allowed that kids of such age could be at a place not sufficiently equipped.

Sounds like negligence that resembles a premeditated murder. but if anything what can Expats as well as locals

learn from such a terrible tragedy ? Mums and dads be careful where to place your kids....

its about negligence of management and inept security personnels... combine them and you got a whole lot of disaster. Are the securities are trained for disaster preparedness? Do the management conduct regular fire drills to all its tenants? Questions, upon questions...

Regardless of how little their salary is, it is not tantamount on how actions will be undertaken under certain circumstances.the need to equip not only the security enforcers with trainings cannot be over emphasized much less the preparations and steps to be undertaken during these times must be well planned..... If we fail to plan means we plan to fail. Again let us not be reactive!

security personnel of villagio and landmark are in-house and not from any security agency.. they are recruited directly and does not undergo training here in Qatar..

The Ministry should regulate the security industry and make it mandatory for all security personnel to undergo relevant training.

The security grads should take the full responsibility for failing to evacuate the victims from the site, this guards are very irresponsible witch i have noticed my self several times.

It's not all about security, it's also about what support security gets from their "superiors".

I totally agree with the OP on all counts. The security guards were crap. They should have been managing the evacuation and directing the civil defense to the fire.

disasters happen.

what we need most, is a true exhaustive enquiry into the incident, (as u watch in "airplane investigation" and in that case: "seconds from disaster"), to replay every single detail and event that led to this disaster.

than one must learn the lessons and correct all those failures.

thus we can prevent further similar accident, and we pay a sincere homage to the victims by saying: ur death didn't go in vain, we today are better equiped to save other lives.

even the darkest cloud has a silver lining
