The emergency services should not need to look for a floor plan, they should visit the mall, get to know it. They should know everything about public places or large industrial sites.

This is what happens elsewhere!

I'm at fault, my daughter used to go there and I never checked the emergency plans.. I won't forget in future!

By flor1212• 29 May 2012 16:34
flor1212

you will see this floor plan where the store or boutiques are located (usually inside a glass). There you will see where the fire exits are and toilets etc etc. Maybe they should put more like this in ALL corners of a mall so everyone is aware.

Schools and office building can easily do fire drills, BUT malls, honestly speaking, I have not seen one. MAybe the admin staff and employees.

By shahzad_14• 29 May 2012 08:51
shahzad_14

Its all about the awareness. People who work in Malls are never been given fire and safety training and what to do in case of FIRE. They only know the exit doors and nothing else and officials said in the statement LACK OF FLOOR PLANS and MALFUNCTIONING SAFETY SYSTEMS WERE MAJOR HINDRANCES TO THE RESCUE EFFORT It clearly means that NO one from the management and safety department were bothered to timely check the safety measures of the MALL. As per the Officials the rescue and support staff were on the place within the minutes but unable to save lives of 19. In my point of view it is to be blamed by the every single person who was involved in Management and Safety Department of the mall and we should abide going to malls if there is no Proper exit plan in case of any Emergency

Investigation will bring out the real cause of the incident, and then they will work hard to avoid any such incident in the future.. this is what investigation and committee have to do!!

Except in Muslim countries - where everything is the will of Allah! or is that statement only applicable for good things.

I remember the expat being killed on Salwa road.. and other "accidents" which all seemed to be the will of Allah!

will not help anyone or anything. Unless you are part of the investigation team that will do the thorough accounting of everything, please refrain or at least practice restraint from giving possible causes or insinuations. For sure, investigation will not be finish in few days, let us wait before we react.

airwjo

well said nethers, very well said

and do not forget the expat will be held responsible for the accident

why i am not wondering about this very sad tragedy in the villagio?

are there any really good safety standards? does anybody independently control it?

i feel sad for the families - my deepest condolences - paying the price for this mess.

and by the way, i am member of the fire brigade in my hometown, i am just amazed, according to the pictures i saw, fire fighters running around without any gloves or other protection gear........

So if a Qatari drives up Salwa road at 120kph at 06:00, hits an ex-pats car and kills him (the expat).. it's the will of Allah.... But an accident that kills Children is just an accident.. not the will of Allah?

Understood...

Yes BBoy there was a small fire that broke out yesterday and the security staff put it out quickly. Today it happens again and quickly erupts into this huge fire. The strange thing though during the last three weeks, this is the second time that fire breaks out at this up market shopping mall. I think someone should get fired over this. Start with the mall Manager!
