QU President Sets Things Straight

In recent days Qatari media has been supporting a public conversation being carried by disgruntled employees and students at Qatar University. Ranging from baseless op-ed articles, open letters and twitter hash tags - there have been a slew of allegations and demands that have been made in the public.

The University President has published a statement today that in my opinion sets a standard for integrity that one expects to be the bare minimum for an institution of higher education that understands quality. My favorite part:

There are those that believe QU’s expectations from students to be too high, which is understandable given the historic context of the University’s development. However, we are fully aware that our expectations cannot possibly be lessened, if we are to meet Qatar’s vision and aspirations, a responsibility which has been entrusted to us and which we take very seriously; we also know that the majority of students are capable of achieving those expectations and many have indeed, exceeded them.
