Royal Plaza... been in there a couple of times. It is always deserted. It seems to be very elitist in there with only high end expensive shops to walk past.
You are right tb. Al Sadd was the retail Centre of Doha in the eighties. There was a Salam Studio & Stores in Al Sadd at the present location of Royal Plaza.
I am told (because I wasn't here) that before the malls Al Sadd was the retail centre of Doha. I can see loads of buildings coming down, and new ones going up, but with limited parking, dreadful traffic congestion and retail units dispersed all over the place. Can Al Sadd compete with the ever larger malls that are going up all over the place?
And yes, Al-Sadd is returning to its glory days.. I remember Al-Sadd used to be considered as one of the most expensive residential and commercial areas in Doha.. and then Dafna=West Bay was developed
Prism were you in one of the cars that nearly got hit by falling debris?
I can't believe they didn't close the road. While I was there no cars got hit, and no one got killed, but after I left who knows. I saw so many near misses.
Ah so it was you taking snap of this old Versailles building being brought down, this morning....:)
Anyways, seems someone somewhere has the the piorities all scre**d up...how many malls do we need here? Why cant the investement be made to create facilities on some of the beaches or say some livable accommodations for the laborers or is this all facade being created in the run up to WC2022.
