I think this topic deserves more attention.

This is the average mentality of drivers in this country, and I have honestly never seen anything like this before anywhere. I don't really understand the thought process of such drivers like our dear OP here, do you go like 'oh there's a law I don't like, let's break it while sticking to the rest of the laws just to annoy the heck out of other drivers!'

I have been in many situations where if I hadn't reacted in a way I would have a deadly accident because of such idiotic drivers, and the question that comes to mind, for what do you do this all? For the most part I would see these people going to a restaurant/cafe/etc where I suppose there's no real urgency in it.

And there's the other thing, breaking one (or more) laws just because you won't get punished for it. If this is how your thought process goes on I think there's a serious problem in this society - considering the fact that everybody (I suppose!) do get their licenses after passing a driving test, however it's slightly insufficient and that might be another reason.

Had to put this out of my mind, cheers!

Edit: Oh and, Master_mas, I'm still waiting for your response @ Qbay in case you didn't notice.

Where did you get the idea that it's a traffic violation to overtake from the right hand side, but not a traffic violation to exceed the speed limit?

It never fails to amaze me when people actually object to having anyone else on the road with them, lol! It's called traffic!

this guy doesnt have any problem with passing the speed limit (MAYBE ITS NOT A TRAFFIC VIOLATION), but its a violation to pass by on the right side.... hehehe WHAT A JERK...

this guy must be one of those idiots who would even flash their lights on ambulances... PATHETIC JERK....

I was going over the post and saw that yesterday's exchange were quite a bit *Censored*... :o)

The OP were very assertive of his points where there are of course people who do not agree. Somehow, its good of him to come back today and show us the realization of his aggressiveness.

I believe you're a true Gentleman deep inside Master_Mas... and it would be much better for us to see it from you on the Road.

Have a safe driving... your Loveones are waiting for you at home.

u can stick to the traffic rules all you want but you do not have the right to make me drive slow behind you.

if i want to go a lil' faster than you. keeping in mind that passing or over taking cars from the right side is a Traffic Violation and if a traffic police officer sees u doing this u will get a violation.

what options do i have but to flash my lights.

why do you guys take this as an offensive act. think of it as "please let me pass" or "would you please move to the right a bit". if it is safe that is.

i maybe was a lil' aggressive in my posts yesterday coz i was pissed off.

how about those of us who stick to the speed limit (or a bit over the limit) and yet some retard comes behind flashing his lights and smelling our a**. i call this smelling my a**. :) these guys overtake us and when they reach the signal or roundabout then they have no hurry!!!

i have been in this situation on corniche roads (going above speed limit) going towards the theater roundabout....these guys just come up behind you until they fill your rear view mirror and flash their lights...you have no option to get to the right track unless you accelerate more to overtake the car on your right and then you find another retard overtaking from the right...and in the worst case this happens when we are near the radar cam...

People like MM create more chaos on the roads than others who do stick to the traffic rules.

Turbohampster i'm also very interested on MM's comment

"if you are unfortunate and i am flashing my lights behind u. and u refuse to move out of the way. I WILL FORCE YOU OUT OF THE WAY. don't let it get to that and *CENSORED* MOVE."

By Jhopp• 24 Apr 2012 17:32

I do get where the OP is coming from, but in a lot less hostile way. =P

There does need to be some general driving information given to all drivers in this country. I have seen quite a few Land Cruiser drivers that seem to think flashing their high beams at the traffic signal will get it to change. I am not being sarcastic here, but talking about a vehicle at the very front of the traffic queue flashing high beams at a red signal, thinking it will change to green.

This is where the OP has a point about the sensors. I too have been stuck at an intersection while daft drivers are sat a full car's length from the white line and they wonder why they sit so long.

As far as the left lane hoggers, I can sympathise in a way. I have been stuck behind plenty of drivers at 20km under the limit or more. It is illegal to pass these slow vehicles on the right side, so what other choice does one have other than to flash at them to move aside?

As far as driving at the limit and sitting in that lane, I also do not feel is correct road ettiquette. In most countries that lane is referred to as "the passing lane". You use it to get around other vehicles in the slower lanes. You do not drive the entire length of road in it and it is not anyone's job to enforce the limit onto others beside the police force.

Safe traffic is all about the flow. One can argue that someone blocking that lane and slowing multiple vehicle traffic behind causes more danger than to just keep out of the way.

My 2c.

CENSORED is what they do here at the internet porno sites, that is CENSORED, or as muslim practice calls it "HARAM".

SENSORS are what they put before an intersection, just before those white lines, they serve to sense pressure to activate a traffic light, or at time speed cams.

now, does this info satisfy your "CENSORED" brain?

GET A LIFE! STOP SPEEDING AND END UP IN HOSPITALS WITH THE PRIMARY REASON OF BEING AN IDIOT DRIVER.

There only appears to be one RETARD on this thread and he started it!

If I am doing the speed limit in the outside lane then I am perfectly entitled by law to be there. There is no obligation on my part to move out of the way or go faster to assist someone who is breaking the law, especially if this involves endangering my live, the lives of occupants in my vehicle or other road users.

While it is universally accepted in Qatar that flashing ones lights means move out of my way, all it does is annoy me and make me less likely to move.

I am in control of my vehicle and therefore I make decisions based upon speed, road conditions, traffic volume and planning relating to my destination (again I have every right to be in the left hand lane when approaching a roundabout if it is my intention to make a left turn)

Why should some aggressive, unthinking, selfish moron employ bullying tactics just because they have to get to Costa or some other equally non-life threatening appointment?

By cherukkan• 24 Apr 2012 13:00

By master_mas• 24 Apr 2012 13:00
master_mas

for *censored* sake. are you mad. what if the car flashing behind you are in a real emergency and they need to be some where.

if you want to stay at or below speed limit you should drive on the RIGHT side of the road. or at least the MID LANE.

.

i didnt say to drive over the white line. just get real *censored* close to it. if all 3 cars in front dont do this the lights will never go green. i told u i got stuck for 20 mins today. i had to get out of my car, walked all the way to the front and asked them to move lil' forward.

.

Missteacher. i dont wanna be one of those people and say "yes i do *censored* own the road you *censored* *censored*" but i just hate *censored* Idiot retard drivers.

and trust me. you wont get a violation unless the rear wheels cross the line while it is red.

By Leatherface• 24 Apr 2012 12:45
Leatherface

It's not the question of going over the white line. The white line is 1 feet in width. There is a set of sensors before and after the white line. The sensors before the line must be armed with the car's axle by being right over it or beyond. There is further 1 feet between the sensor and the white line which means that you can be well over the sensor without going beyond the white line. I think it cannot get any simpler than this to understand.

By Goldfish 123• 24 Apr 2012 12:45

By Leatherface• 24 Apr 2012 12:38

Leatherface

Hahaha....they stay several meters away from the white line. There is a set of sensors before the white line that must be armed. They aren't aware that the road sensors are designed to detect traffic flow as well and can prolong the "green" if traffic flow is heavy. Similary, if the sonsors don't detect axles for a set number of seconds, they turn red. This happens so many times because the "retards" won't drive properly and keep unnecessary distance from the car ahead. Some people take U turns like they are strolling in a park. Others will hold several cars behind them on the 1st lane until some local will flash at them. This is so annoying.

Instead of making the license acquisition more tough, they removed the box parking test and made it easier for the roads to be filled up with non competent drivers.

By Missteacher• 24 Apr 2012 12:37
Missteacher

Ah so we have one of the "I think I own the roads" on QL. You are meant to stick to the speed limit on any lane of the road. I do move out of the way for people like you so that I don't have aggrivation but it is absolutely disgraceful.

THe point about the line is fair enough but if you go over the line it can also be picked up by the speed cameras too so people don't want 6000QR fines I guess.

By turbohampster• 24 Apr 2012 12:33
