Cedars Learning Center
Is there anyone who can give me some reviews on this school? I am a newbie to the site and will be to Doha. My husband is already there and we have been trying to get my two sons ages 6 and 10 into british schools but it is very hard as most of the schools that we contacted said they were full except cedars. is it worth leaving my country (Jamaica) to have my children go to cedars? They are currently at a private school in Jamaica and i do not want to disrupt their education with a learner centre versus a school.
Thanks for the information n_minie. I am going to get in touch with the schools that you have listed. I would prefer to get into a school and not a learning center so i will be on the ball with admissions for the various schools.
There are other Brit schools like Newton ( they have few branches, so you may have a better chance ), Sherbourne & Compass. You can try those as well. Best Brit school is DESS. So far they only accept Brit pp holders. If you are not Brit pp holder, then Doha College is the 2nd choice of good schools. Unfortunately everyone is trying incl myself to get into DC. The rest mentioned are also good reputable Brit schools that you can try.
My kids now are in EMS & so far I have no complains. Teachers are good, friendly & parents are updated weekly on the things taught. Tip for you, you should consistantly try to call the school & ask whether there are vacancy. Although their std & realistic answer = NO , who knows you might be lucky.
Esp in June / Jul, many leaves the country & does not come back in Sept.
Astute questions, JA. Probably not. As adults we choose to live in Doha despite the occasional difficulties. But many US companies are suggesting that families with children NOT come because of the schooling situation.

i have applied to parkhouse, doha college, and doha montessori. This is a frightening experience. There is obviously not enough schools to service the growing population. This raises questions. Is there enough of other basic goods and services to service the growing population? Hmmmm.
I believe academic wise is ok. If you have no choice, you will have to go to Cedars first & wait for an opening in the British schools. By the way, what other British schools have you applied ?
As far as I can remember Cedar is not a School. Its a training centre that offers support to children that cannot find school places. Its not a proper school and also Physical Education is not offered at this Centre.
