Can I work while on a tourist visa?
Is it common practice to work in Qatar while on a tourist visa?
I am an engineer and have been told by my employer that accreditation of my degree takes so long that in the meantime I will come into and work in Qatar on a tourist visa. Then eventually when all the paper work has been done (which I'm told can take months) I will switch to a work visa. Is this legal? Has anyone else had this experience? I'm told everyone does it, but it seems a little dodgy to me.
Could I get into trouble for doing this?
I think your employer said "Busines visa", not a tourist visa. Why on the earth the company would bring you on the tourist visa to work?
You will be OK as long as your RP is in process. Your employer must start your medical/fingerprinting process within 7 days of your arrival.
u can't work while on visit visa, and u can get in trouble if ur busted, but yes it's a common practice.
better to get issued a work visa, and work untill ur papers are done.
