Swiss vote against taking more holiday
Swiss voters have rejected an increase to their legal holiday entitlement amid fears it could damage the national economy.
Well the Swiss did..

Re-enforcing Switzerland's reputation as a country of dedicated workers 66.5 per cent of Swiss said "no" in a national referendum to bringing their country into line with the likes of Germany by adding another two weeks to the four weeks paid leave they now enjoy.

But it appears most voters heeded warnings that more time away from the workplace would increase labour costs and put the economy at risk.

So! Would you do the same ?

Qatar is the richest country - so wouldnt mind extra holidays. Doesnt make a difference to the economy.

But back in India, ofcourse i would say NO to extra holidays - we already have 300 days of holidays out of 365 days a year!!!

Surely i will say No... More public holidays mean more delay in work and affect economy.

I get 40 days annual holiday + 2 days off that’s for the weekend and then good 6 days for sick leave 6 days for emergency leave 6 hours instead of 8 for the Ramadan and 5 days off for each Islamic Festival holiday ( The Eid ) and umm what else? Ok 1 day off for Christmas lol.

I would say no if it would hurt economy.

Please answer quiclky: when you say you have 1 month leave, does that mean 30 days leave with or without weekends? And do you mean you don't go to work during Ramadaan???

My 4th day here, and going for interview today, thus the (silly) questions!

That said if it's at the expense of facing turmoil in the economic environment of any land, then I second the decision of the Swiss people, and will say No to more holidays.

Brit, I think people do not quite understand that this is a hypothetical question as in " would you say NO to more holidays if it hurts the economy in your OWN country....

Qatar need more holidays; minimum one day each month.

Check Sri Lanka where they have holidays on Full moon days, and no moon days, etc, etc, etc
