hello ql'ers, please i need some clarification regarding benefits for locally hired. gm informed me that i am not entitled for any benefits at all since i am locally hired. meaning no air tickets most especially even after completion of 2 years. can you please give me some information regarding articles on qatar labor law to help me enlighten about the issue?

I agree with the above posters, the air tickets should have been discussed during the negotiations and must be stated in your contract.

I am locally hired and under husband sponsorship and I have the benefit of return ticket every year as stated in my contract.

It's not up to the employer. It's his obligation by law towards his company members of staff.

If you already have these benefits under your husband's work, then they are not necessary.

However, if only you are working then you should point this out to your employer and request this benefits. Ultimately it is up to the employer.

You aren't entitled to anything that isn't in your signed employment contract.

There is no legal obligation for your employer to provide flights for you.

As mentioned by others you should have made an employment contract with all necessary points to avoid any issues later. Verbal agreement is not valid for claims.

Dear...you can get the same benefits as those being directly hired from their countries depending on your negotiations with the employer. Some even give annual air tickets. But it would be a different case if you are under family sponsorship and will not convert to your company's sponsorship. Some companies do not give the full benefits to these types of employees.

before you signed the offer letter or your contract.

I'm a local hire and I get return (economy) tickets after 2 years of employment.

Or better yet, go over the Qatar Labour law :)

Having read many posts here - only one piece of advice I could give you - get your contract in writing! Word of mouth agreement always seems to lead to problems!

Good luck!

Not obliged to give you benefits except (I think) Health insurance just for yourself.

Also, alot of companies try to get away with offering you less than market rate in terms of salary in the mysogenistic belief that "you are all taken care of with your husbands salary and this is just a little extra housekeeping money for you"

Very common here.
