Oh one other suggestion. Join Doha Players if you are into amateur dramatics, and there are voluntary organisations like QAWS (if you are an animal lover). Well that's two suggestions actually.

This is not going to be easy for you. There are the usual clubs and bars. Perhaps join a gym and bump into people there. Or join one of the many sports clubs / associations. But nothing is going to happen too quickly for you I'm afraid. QL get togethers are very infrequent these days, so I wouldn't hold out for much from this site (except in a virtual way).
