So there was an ad here on QL , for iphone 4 S , I contacted the seller through email , he said I have to go to a site and order it , I did and place my credit card. Now , I received text message saying my card was charged for 5000 dollars ?? I called my bank , they asked me if I placed it , i said no , they said we cant do anything , the funds left the account and you have no insurance...Qatar does suck!

Holly crap! You are awesome for informing everyone, because in reality you didn't have to. I am seriously thanking you, because I will now only buy from sites I have used before or friends or family have used. I recommend everyone else do the same.

PeterGrifin...how stating what kind of response one gets here helped OP to be relieved of her pain. BTW just in case you didnt notice OP ended stating "Qatar does suck"... do you believe Qatar as anything to do with it, if not, then how is "dont blame Qatar" out of place as a response.

By anonymous• 24 Nov 2011 15:48

Drovers, now don't be such a smart wise guy on me.

She said she called her bank and I am sure the bank would have advised her if there was a way. Suddenly everyone here knows everything.

What if it was one of those debit cards that can be used as a credit card? What if the money was pulled up in a legit way through some crook shop?

I am not a banker and we still don't even know the other side of the story, if there is one. But getting response like ( don't blame Qatar, blame your passport and I hope it happens to you again ) is surely not something nice to say.

Prism,

I was NOT talking about the incident itself. I was referring to the responses someone gets in here. If you did not get this, i would not expect you to get it now.

"To the OP, What do you expect from a country who's majority have the manners and attitude of those bad apples. Never trust anyone in here. Whether they swear by their God, by their Cow, or anything else".

How does the incident relate to someone in Qatar when the contact is through email!!!

If you paid by debit card there is no insurance and no recourse. If you paid by credit card you automatically have insurance. Do as Brit said.

You idiots and Freaks. The woman had a problem and every clown here is so senseless to add to her pain?

You guys are lucky to hide behind your screens.

IF you have nothing to say, simply STFU!

To the OP, What do you expect from a country who's majority have the manners and attitude of those bad apples. Never trust anyone in here. Whether they swear by their God, by their Cow, or anything else.

Everybody makes mistakes...although this one was a bit over the line, I must say, considering the awareness that is being spread by QL and its memebers to stay away from scammers. As some of them have said, contact the bank or credit card company and tell them exactly what happened. Take their advice and to how to proceed in this matter. They might be able to help you and most importantly, it might be possible to catch the scammer.

Be careful next time and check the authenticity of the site or seller before buying anything or get one of those prepaid internet cards in which there is a limit to the amount.

All the best in getting your money back.

You said that you placed the order using your credit card and you denied it to your bank? You did one stupid thing...then another one is blaming Qatar for your stupid action.

What can you do? Your money could never bring back by the credit card company. Just learn from your experience and be careful next time.
