Mobile plans

I just reached Doha and just got my mobile plan as well.

There are 2 main mobile providers, Qtel and Vodafone. I was advised by my peers to choose Qtel as it is more reliable.

For those with no ID as yet, we have to get a prepaid plan. Paid 50riyals to activate the SIM card with 15riyals worth of credit in it. You can recharge your phone at any Qtel booth or machines.

For 3G services, it is crazily expensive. There are 3 types of plans.

1) Easy - 15riyals for 50MB - Valid for 30days

2) Plus - 25riyals for 250MB - Valid for 7 days

3) Lite - 10riyals for 50MB - Valid for 7 days

How it works is that you will have to call *121# and select the option that you want, and they will deduct the amount from your available balance.

It is advised to do a post paid plan after you get your Qatar ID as it is cheaper in some way.
