Moving From US to Qatar : Mail Options Premium or Change of Address ?

I have signed up for a "ShopAndShip.com" (ARAMEX) account to get a US delivery address and completed the USPS Premium Forwarding Service to have my regular mail forwarded from my current US residence to the ARAMEX address in New York (for 1 year -- 12 months).

This is with the intention of ARAMEX then forwarding my mail from NY to QATAR/Doha. However, the only down side to this was that USPS asked me to pay for the full year forwarding service at application time so I was out-of-pocket by $760+ right at the get go when submitting the application.

As an afterthought, I was wondering if it would have been better to file for a Change of Addres Form (COA) Online, and then simpy have provided my ARAMEX NY address as the new address I am moving to ? Is this possible with COA ? Would this have been more cost effective as the change would be permanent until I change it back when I return from QATAR, and there would have been no weekly forwarding charges as in the case of the USPS premium service -- saving me a bundle.
