Need urgent reply regarding B2 visa..

I am ready to apply for US B2 visitor visa with my family.Do have bank statement, salary certificate and no objection.But I am willing to obtain some kind of sponsor or invitation letter from US citizen friend.Coz I know my friend recentky came from UK trip and had swown sponsor letter to UK embassy.The letter had info about the accomodation,financial staemnets and moreover it was verified and stamped by a lawyer with personal guaranor.Is it possible for me to get similar letter from my American friend?Or what format shoul it look like?

I got the visa some time back, and I got a email from my relative in US, inviting me to stay with him in the US..I took a printout of the mail when I went for the interview... If your other documents like - Letter from company, bank statements etc are in order, there is nothing to worry about.. You might get a 10 year visa like I did..
