Has this happened to you?

I sometimes have feelings which are unual, interesting, funny---sometimes even scary--- and I wonder if I am alone to have them or they are just common.

These feelings are evoked feelings pertaining to either of the five modalities of perception but extending much beyond.

I do not know how to describe them. I will, however, with my little feeble strength of writing, try to explain them with examples.

In the past, many years ago, suppose I have listened to a song. If I enjoyed it, probably, I listened to it over and over. The song, if it happens to have some emotional associations and some personal memories attached to it,  understandably became special to me. I forgot about the song. Somehow, if I come accross the song again, by chance, the unusual feelings start being evoked in me. Instantly, as the song is being played, I am retaken to my past. I can vividly reexperience the same old situation, in the same intensity, if not more and with the same emotional overtone. If the song made me happy in the past, I would become happy (even though the other accompaniments of the song which too were contributors to my happiness are absent now, and even though context now has changed). On that day, or even for a few more days, I would remain in the same original state of mind--- elated or downcast--- and would feel as if my past has been just reenlivened around me.

It is the same with some foods, fragrances, views, and touches that the same past experience comes back to my life.

Is this a normal to be like this? I am sure there is nothing pathological about it; however, I am unsure if many people experience the same thing as I do. In other words, I wonder if these feelings are unique to me.
