Expats and Qataris

The announcement of 60% Payrise for the national employees in Government Companies will lead to further widening of already existing salary differential. However, this is a very good news as it only proves the way Qatar is growing in it's Financial Standing and now it will become possible for the expats salaries to go higher.
don't see how a contract an expat signed would be altered. a contract is a contract. when it ends u can sign a new one with a bigger paycheck...

@Blastfreezer - I think you'll find that the effect will be an erosion in expat spending power as the salary increases drive inflation. Some expats may be lucky enough to negotiate salary increases, most won't though. And even the ones that do won't get anything like 60%+, so your logic seems very odd to me.And as for Qatar 'growing in it's financial standing', I have no idea what this even means or how it relates to the salary increases. Let's face it, there's only one reason the government has brought in these wage hikes....
Eagley.. Will let you know if it happens, Lunch no problem. The problem is your ticket from KL to Doha..:)
Must check if my expat pals in the govt depts r able to get a pay rise ... And then ask them to take me out for lunch to celebrate!! ;0)
well i did hear something in the bush that some governement and semi government comapnies will give soon a good pay hike for expats too?
