Doha book club

Hey folks,

Anyone interested in joining a biweekly book club in Doha?  We plan on reading fun-but-challenging books - think David Foster Wallace, William Gaddis, Pynchon, etc.  We'll read a couple hundred pages between each meeting and then have a (hopefully) stimulating discussion on what we've read.  Send an email to [email protected] if you're interested.

wirehead raised a good question. How such discussion groups work? I have been part of an informal group in Berlin where we used to meet once a week to discuss a common topic that we agreed in advance. We would read about it and research it. Then in a group, everyone would present his/her findings and understanding to other members. It was a great opportunity to exchange ideas and share knowledge. It was also interesting to see things from others' perspective.I too have not read anything of the writers mentioned by DBC. We might have different taste in literature and reading. I think this will be another good thing about having such discussion group.DBC, would appreciate if you explain what you have in mind as to the functioning of this discussion group.
