What is a Free Visa

Hi

We are a UK family and we are currently looking for a full time live in Filipino maid and we just cannot find anyone suitable. The problem is that although we have a visa available, it is that even if we find someone, it is not as simple as just signing for new sponsorship with an NOC.  I have 2 questions:

1.  One person interested is here on a 6 month visit visa, it is possible to transfer them onto my Work Visa?

2.  Another person is here on what she calls a 'free visa' and whos original sponsor is a Qatari and who was working for another UK family...I do not understand this.  Would she come on to my visa/sponsorship?  What is a free visa?

Thanks

Wardster

Yes, you can transfer transfer the person with a Visit Visa onto your Work Visa but for that she will have to exit Qatar, and only then can you start procedures for the transfer.A Free Visa is the same as a 'Visa with a NOC' available from the sponsor. That means she can work for you without the change in sponsorship as well. If you want you can transfer her onto your visa, but thee are certain guidelines for that of which am not sure of.

Dear Wardster,These are my answers to your querries base on what I know:1. A visit visa for 6 months could be transferred to your sponsorship for as long as you can get a no objection letter from where the person you are sponsoring got her visit visa.2. A free visa might mean a free lance visa- this visa can be acquired from a company who's got extra visas not in use.(have to pay for it though)but the person who'll use this will not be working for that company-instead he will look for another job he likes. So came the term FREE LANCE visa. You can transfer the sponsorship of the lady maid for as long as she already finished a year with the company who's presently sponsoring her. The company has to give a no objection letter allowing the lady to transfer under your sponsorship.Hope these information help.Sam-I-Am

This is the first time I've heard about this so-called "free" visa. Anyway, one possible solution for your problem is to post a Housemaid Wanted ad in places frequented by many Filipinas. Try the Food Palace in Al Sadd, and I'm pretty sure that you will get lots of calls from Filipinas wanting to work for a British family.
