How is Sara Tower in West Bay like?

This is a newly openned or semi-openned tower in West Bay. Prices range from 11K to 15K. It is advertised as a luxury tower. In my opinion, here are the positive and negative things about this tower.

POSITIVE:
1. The Lobby features designer furniture and lighting and surely does make a good first impression. The quality of finishing in the public areas are good and the details are good.

2. The unit is sizeable with great views around

3. See 1 and 2

NEGATIVE:

1. Some furnishings, although trendy are definitely cheap and of poor quality. The carpet is especially worse, as it sheds far more than 10 St.Bernard dogs would. For some weird reason, the bath tub gets easily stained by the water (rusty water?)

2. Smell. The whole tower smells like indian curry on a good day. Good thing that it doesn't smell in your kitchen, just in your bedroom when you are having a good sleep.

3. Facilities. Barely there. As the tower is newly opened. Most facilities are not open. Yet you are paying for it in your rent. The indoor pool is good though but barely usable as the sunlight doesn't get in (only sometime around 3pm). They have a big jacuzzi though.

4. Fire safety. The fire alarm is definitely working but the alarms are only in the corridor and not in your unit. So if you are sleeping and left the TV on and closed all the doors behind you, then there's a possibility you'll be the last to know that there's a fire. There is a smoke detector in your unit though.

5. Security. The security guards are very friendly and are always on duty. But say a burglar passed through them.... that's it. Your unit main door doesn't have a peep-hole to see who's knocking, or a security latch either.

6. You can not call the reception from your unit. You have to beep them through your unit, and they call you back...how convenient.

7. English. Only the receptionist and some other maintenance can speak good english. Expect hard communication and badly written notices in the lift.

8. Staff and Maintenance. Although the occupancy now is vey low, they are already understaffed.

9. Kitchen Counter. Scratch proof but after you clean it, the color won't even out so it looks perpetually dirty even when clean.

10. Floor. Nice floor patterns but horrible to maintain. Large gaps between the tiles aren't very easy to clean and looks horrible when stained or wet.It makes the whole unit "look" dirty.

11. You pay a LOT  for luxury and convenience but you don't get it.

The tower has a lot of potential to be a good class tower if only they would be serious about delivering the quality as promised. I would give it a year or so before this tower can be considered broken-in and ready. Right now, there are just a lot of glitches and big misses that need to be addressed, which is very common in all newly opened towers.

Nothing changes so far, its only getting worse. Plus building is not as per fire and safety standards so I dont know how this place can be open for such a long is not

I have to agree. I've been staying here for a year now and I'm planning to move out! All my friends tell me that I can easily get a far better place. I'm just so happy my contract with them is ending soon. Signing that 1-year contract was a nightmare, really! The management is very poor with a one-way owner-resident relationship. Tyrannic if you ask me.It seems like it has been one year since you posted this but not a lot has changed. I also do not recommend this over-priced luxury-wannabe tower. Look hard, there are way better places out there.

Staying and paying in a cheap place and getting what you paid for is more acceptable than having your hard-earned cash ripped-off from you "legally". And i think this is very common, as you say it, in most "luxury wanna-be" towers here. I wish that there is better consumer protection regarding this matter.

All what azamat said.

Buildings look nice from the outside, but simple and poor quality on the inside

You can copy and paste this review for almost all so called "luxury" apartments in Doha. Welcome to Qatar. For half of what you pay here, you can get consistently better quality of living in India, Thailand, China and Indonesia (the so called "third world" developing countries).
