DOHA: Work to set up Qatar Space City at Al Khor is in progress, according to a local daily. The QR12bn project plans to take passengers into space.

Qatar Space City project will include research on satellite and space sciences.

The project will be implemented in many phases and will include establishment of a university in cooperation with US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The project will also have much scope for tourism and will include a science museum. The new city will be established near Al Khor airstrip, a part of which — 40,000 square metres — will be used for the project. The project is linked to Qatar Foundation (QF) and has a special budget and management.

According to earlier reports, QF started working on the project almost four years ago. The project which has now reached a strategic level, is progressing under the office of the Heir Apparent H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

Speaking of the positive side of the story, thats really good news, 'cos there should be someone to continue doing the space missions after USA. So we keep learning of the things outside earth...USA is broken right now, it cannot afford space missions anymore...

Yeah, many other things like: no NOC policy, more than 6 hours work during Ramadan, beggars around the mosques, crazy drivers, no implementation of many laws, funny verdicts in courts, and so on.
