Welcome the Holy Ramadan with price hike!

Like other Muslim countries, prices of Grocery items in Doha are increasing day-by-day in spite of assurances/promises of Qatari dignitaries to not increase prices of Grocery due to Ramadan or during Ramadan.  I visited last night to Al MEERA (Mansoura area) and noticed that prices of severazl items are increased upto 1 to 3 QRs up.  Especially "Tayyani Olive Oil" (02 Liter bottle for cokking purposes) which was before 15 days was available in QR 39/- and on 25 July 2011 it was QR 46/- (an rapid increase of 07 Riyal on 01 item) is too much.

I agree, this hike of 07 to 10 QRs is meaningless to the Qataris but this is TOO MUCH for expatriates of other countries like India and Pakistan etc.

Who will responsible for this ?

Who will look after the matter of price hike in Qatar ?

I appealed to the Qatari leaders to please look into the matter and necessary action  may be taken to control the prices of Grocery especially in the eve of Holy month of Ramadan.

If prices are too high in the supermarkets or the local corner store, why not go shop at the main market off Salwa road? The prices and quality are much better.

Funny how many people complain about things like price hike, commissions and fees that are thought of, initiated and executed by individuals of their own nationality working here in Qatar. Love the solidarity they display!

In God We Trust. The rest of us must pay for being born sinners. And believe me these shop owners are going to make sure of that. In the end it is the sponsor of the business that gains the divine profits as he happily goes to pray and Thanks Goodness

I thought they usually lower down the prices in ramadan and also make special promotions in literally all basic necessities.

Ask the question in the Religious Teaching Group. Ramadan is a religious issue, business is not!
