Living with Opposite Sex

By itown

Hi,

I am considering a move to Doha in the next couple of months.  I currently live in the UK with a friend and she would like to move with me.  We are not a couple but would be living together (in seperate rooms).

Is this acceptable in Qatar?

Thanks in advance for any info.

u know there is a story,, once a guard was sitting on a big open door of a compound , people were coming and entering with out bothering him ,, one gentleman came and he asked him can i enter, guard said "NO" , he was surprised that every one is entering and he is not stoping them then why he said no to me , he asked the guard why u said no to me ,,  guard said ,,," they did not ask me u r the only one asking, so its on me to say yes or no,,, so no need to ask any one just come and live u ll not face any problem,

Damm care these comments here .There are so many living here as families and very few get into problems .Try to care a bit in all and you will have no problems at all Those who speak here illegal loves to  be like this but does not have the courage Majority of the phillipanas are staying here illegal as familes and how many are getting into problems - they know how to care it .So welcome my friend to Qatar

She would need a sponsor. And you would need one too. But if your sponsor knows this would be the case, then forget about it, you wont even get one, save your breath. Plus it is illegal.

HGL, let's get a sense of perspective, this is not life or death and I don't feel that it is necessary to spend all my time concentrating on it.

encouraging such thing openly here on board is tself a violation of the guidelines and yet, no comment so far is deleted or the Mods giving a warning.I would have expected that after the thread was started, a warning should have come from the Mods for violating such house guidelines! And that's what give the wrong signal! And we all know that it is illegal!

The "filth" is already here. Ever heard of "churches"? A decent Qatari has a "guesthouse"!

2012, you can state facts without adding things like filth onto the end of sentences, the facts are enough. All you looks like is someone who is very bitter about something

Chances of being punished for it are slim if you are in private accommodation, but it is illegal if you are not married or related.

In fact it is illegal but if you can continue unnoticed then go ahead. By the way who is going to Sponsor her?

Rizks, Are you Still in Doha? I read a post yesterday which says that you are on holiday.

By happygolucky• 26 Jul 2011 12:48

Looking at the responses it seems there can be an issue...  why, no one knows... some may say it is nowhere written it isnt allowed but again there is a trace of "it is actually not allowed" in the statements. If that be, isnt it advising on something illegal (well again if it is not written in the law book how can it be illegal, I dont know if it is written or not)  so to say or shall I say NOT ACCEPTABLE.

Now if it is good so far, wasn't there a thread why people seek on such issues and then again why people advice  ways how to beat it, on something that is not acceptable, on QL and then why such threads or posts are allowed to remain on QL instead of being deleted.

P.S. : Nothing personal, just remembered.

Depends on where you live and your relationship.  If you are married or related, then OK.  If she's just a friend, say your are cousins and then it's fine.  If she is your girlfriend, then potential problems and hassle.  Police don't go around looking for it, but if your neighbours complain it could be a problem.

quote She would like to move with me unquote. How??? On an RP herself? She is moving on an employment herself, thats fine else you can't sponsor her until you marry her and produce the necessary document for a husband sponsored visa.On a visit? A visitor can not stay for more than 3 months at a stretch (I stand open to correction here). Moreover, who is going to sponsor her visit? You need to let the immigration know your relation with the person you are calling for a visit.

@ITBlaster-they are not in a relationship...

@itown- I suggest she lives in a different place... its better to be safe than sorry., Living together in one house with opposite sex is not allowed here (unless you are family). (that is as far as i am aware of... :)

You can both live in one villa with separate entrance though. :)

Welcome to Doha!

No problem - Welcome to Qatar where you can enjoy yourselves .Be sure everything and anything you do to have its own privacy as Qatar allows everything but if complaint arises then you land up in jail .
