Suggestions in Tablets other than Apple

By Hawk10

I need suggestions based on your experience regarding Tablets ie Galaxy, Acer, Dell etc etc. I need Tab with 3G connection but dont want to go for IPad, as apple want to restrict the users to their limited software market and you will not have freedom to use any thing else than apple. Also their prices are much higher than the others.

Didn't see any Acer with 3G here in Qatar, anybody knows where we can get any good brand with 3G connection? Memory doesnot matter much, as far as external memory option is available.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Search in Google for "Best of the Tablets & Mini Tablets Qatar" and hit the 1st on the list. It has a detailed review in which iPad3 WiFi is last of the lot.

I agree the site listed above is pretty good for comparisons if you're looking to compare specs but I found the reviews on the site below quite helpful as well.  Lots of tablets have as good or better specs than the iPad.http://www.tabletpccomparison.com

Who asked you any question, slowly coming off your high horse ain't you? And I suppose "waist my time" is also a typo?

I'm not surprised though, you were certainly dreaming of 40 virgins just before your response so "waists" were prominently on your mind.

Application developer in Qatar! lol. Can a techie go lower?

Seriously dude you think that I should waist my time talking to you, u asked a question I tried to help you but it seems that you are just a person with so much anger and no reason.

Good that you made me laugh again you think that windows is fully open source, or android?

I'm application developer and I know what I'm talking about I don't need a review, I make reviews for people like you to know what they should use :)

Sorry I forgot that I'm in grammer lesson and I have fix every typo :)

Your blab still proves that you have to jailbreak an ipad to get any reasonable use out of it, you have to install a backdoor software to get needed functions to run. Playing music will running another program does not multitasking make, holding an app suspended in the background does not multitasking make, you are the one that needs to educate yourself by reading the write up below:

http://venturebeat.com/2011/02/09/touchpad-multitasking/

...ohh, sorry, I forgot you are smarter than the author, can we read something you've written, how about a link to your blog? As usual I expect you will ignore the question, you never answer the tough ones.

But I wonder why windows desktops and laptops are not restricted in similar manner, why I can run any program I like without Microsoft first approving it.

I will ignore your poor grammar because you are so smart you should be working for apple in Cupertino.

I'm happy reading you comment cause It shows how  illiterate you are From your comments it clearly shows that you have no idea about the development of IPAD / IPhone applications, and you are stuck in the past, or perhaps you’re like many other repeat sentences which you don’t know or understand. Multitasking: it’s supported almost a year now, we are in release 4.3.4 and there were almost 15 release in between all of them supports multitasking out of the box. So where do you get your information. Flash, big deal it’s not supported life doesn’t stop on flash, if your concerns to start a website that run flash use different browser which support flash like skyfire and you will have your flash running. On the other side Flash is an option by Cydia install cydia and look for flash :)   Why Jailbreak: Good question, it opens new level or era on developments, applications and restrictions that is banded from the telecom companies, i wonder if you can understand the thetring or streaming, or video & audio communication through the 3G restrictions. Many of the telecom companies offer your 3G at high prices however they make sure that you will use the package only in low bandwidth by restricting your mobile phone, using software in the jailbreak can open up these services One example is the Facetime restriction in Dubai telecom banded it however after jailbreaking the phone you will be able to start face time. Many features are there, one of them is to install the paid applications for free, imagine that you have 600,000 applications that you can use it for free!!!If i wanna explain every feature your little brain will explode before completing the artical Sync your IPad with PC: Many applications are there now, gone is the day where you need only ITunes, you can have many supported application like iFunbox, Wifisync etc but I’m sure that you don’t know anything about that however you will still criticize it without trying to know what is it. It’s clearly that many people is basing their opinion on wrong ideas and it’s okay since this is very sophisticated technology and not everyone is capable of understanding it. This device was selected the best device invented ever and because of people who doesn’t know anything you criticize the surface based on your poor knowledge and you don’t even try to level your knowledge

I wonder if the Einstein wannabe can explain why you have to jailbreak your own property before you can use it the way you like. No multitasking on the ipad, no flash, only apps apple approves, you can only connect other apple made equipment to the ipad, open minded folks should imagine if Microsoft says you can only use Microsoft products with any Windows computer, and Toyota says you can only use Toyota tires and Toyota fuel because of concerns about your safety! And some "genius" claims that there are no restrictions, talk-less of unreasonable restrictions.

And the Einstein wannabe should define "jailbreak", even a kindergarten kid will understand that if the manufacturer puts his product in a "jail" you have to break it out of to use as you the owner likes, then certainly there are unreasonable restrictions on that product.

And if the Einstein wannabe is so smart and knowledgeable about tech products that he believes others are inferior, why is he not working in silicon valley, why is he sweating in a server room amongst people he considers uninformed?

Funny that most of the comments on iPad comes from the lack of knowledge or wrong price comparison

If I want to go step by step I will easily proove to you that you are comparing apple to noodle :)

Price: official market price of IPad 2 isUSD 499, 599, 699

Similar to all other products. However in Doha there is no official Apple store, therefore it's black-market price where every one get to put his price as per the market demand, you can't blame the product for the in competitive electronic market in Doha.

Restrictions on Apple market: do you really know what you are talking about guys or you just talk to talk? Do you mean other products e.g. Adroid or blackberry does not have market restrictions or prices? I'm sure that many people base their opinion onpure lack of knowledge

Comparison: apple product market applications is 600,000 application

Android market 150,000 application

Windows tablet: 20,000

Nokia 6,000

Blackberry: less then 1000

Prices by far the cheapest prices and most stable ones on Apple most of the prices vary between USD 1 and 3 less then 10 Qrs.

Restrictions: you can easily jailbreak iPad and install for free apple products and 3rd party applications without restriction

Transferring multimedia to apple products without iTunes is very easy using Funbox application plug and play.

I was really was hoping for some educated opinion discussing the application, usability, options, battery life, GPS, application however all the answers I saw is the same I see every day people who doesn't know anything about the products and why they are using it and just spreading wrong information.

helloi have used most of them and i totaly disagree with your statment about restriction on IPad, since you can easily jailbreak your Ipad and install Cydia and 3rd parity applications hassle free.Any way the question should be whats your main requirments before you need to purchase any tabletbelow is examples:IPAD2 : all purposes, business, video conferencing, GPS with offline maps, multimedia and web browsing plus more then 600,000 applications many of them is impossible to find on any other device, e.g. airvideo where you can stream and watch any video with live conversion without the hassle of codec9 continues hours battery life, amazing feature nothig beat it.one of the other important factor is the accessories for IPAD their are thousand of accessories and things you can buy for ipad and almost 2 or 3 options for any other competitor item, this give you as client lots of options to use your tab in many purposesGreat email options: love it and syncing with Exchange especially contants and calender is amazing, you can do this now usng Google and Hotmail as wellCons:Flash: is not embeded feature, however you can install it from cydiaItunes: syncing with Itunes is hassle for some people at the begining, Itunes is good product however their is some difficulties to learn on itAndroid tablets:the best between them is Motorolla tab, i have used it for a while and its very nice tabletgood for web browsing, multimedia and gamesBusiness: Big question mark on this, i have find it very inconvinient and Android market is not fully stable in comparision with appleGames: there is some good games out there, but most of them is crappyMultimedia: not bad, however codecs is a hassle, and you will have problemsEmails and exchange is not badBattery life about 4 hoursGPS: online version, and Sygic is not that good on it, i wont recommend it muchLimited accessoriesBlackberry tablet:about 7", boring, nothing good about this tablet, i ended up selling it after 3 days from buying it.No application, and if there is applicatons it will cost fortune, unlike apple store where most the apps cost less then 1 USDyou will need to own BlackBerry and pay monthly subscription to use this one, not convinient and size do feel wiered in hand I'm not going to influence you on any of these tablets, but my recommendation that you are making a wrong judgment based on faulse information, you need to rectify your information about this product and i'm sure that this might be one of the best advices you will get if you listen to me :)

You are correct about Apple restrictions and over priced products. I basically dont like apple products because the makers want their buyers to turn apple into their god, you can't do anything without apple's permission. I will advise that you should go for the new Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, it looks great and does everything an ipad does without all the ipad bullsh*t. See a good review of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 at the link below:http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/08/samsung-galaxy-tab-10-1-review/
