Vehicle Registration Renewal

Hello All,

I know there have been several posts; but mine looks like a slightly different question.

I always appreciate any help you are able to provide.

1. I have completed the technical inspection of my car yesterday from Abu Hamour. Vehicle passed technical and failed legal as apparently the license plate is damaged (I have no clue what this means as it looks perfectly fine to me)

2. There was no police yesterday in the adjoining booth and I was told to come back tomorrow.

3. Do I have to go back to Abu Hamour or can I go to any traffic police department (e.g. Madinat Khalifa) to get this cleared.

4. Do I have to go for insurance renewal only after clearing legal.

5. Do I have to come back to traffic police to get the Isthemara renewed.

Many thanks.

Thanks a lot for your responses. Apparently, the report says it is a Major Fault. My insurance is valid for another 10 days or so; do I have this time sort out the legal?

galloper - for the scratches and window tints, normally it's just a minor fault. ask the police in charge for the signature/stamp. if he didn't sign, he'll gonna ask you to fix/repair all the problems mentioned in your report and come back for the re-inspection.  and if you passed, that's  the time he'll gonna sign your paper. you may now proceed to th e insurance co. and traffic dept.and as for the plate number, you must all proceed to the main traffic dept. which is in madinat khalifa.

exactly the same thing happened to me, they said my car failed because the licence plate was faded(??!!) but passed everything else. However, the policeman was not there to officially sign it off so I had to go back the next day, I skipped the que and showed him the document which he stamped right away (no need for new inspection). Then you get your insurance renewed and then you go to get your new reg card for the car - voila!!

galloper48 , i think its not a major fault , so just get stamped the report by policeman ( the one present at abu hamour inspection) , then go to madina kahlifa marror (open untill 6pm) & get the new registration.

you need to go to the "main" traffic dept. and go to the registration renewal section. from there they will ask you to pay 150QR for the replacement of your  plate number. once paid and registration renewed, you need to go to a separate building where they remove and install the new plates. submit a copy of your receipt and you'll be ask to comeback after 3 working days.after 3 days go back and they will replace your plate with a new one :)

jakula89  but what about the "legal" issue with the Plate(??) or is that no issue at all??

It' just that simple?? Renew the insurance and then the registration?

vivme I was also in abu hamour yesterday and have the same situation as yours: technical passed, legal failed (WTH??)

Regards!!

you may now proceed to the insurance company to renew your insurance...then proceed to traffic dept., pay for the registration and new plate number... wait for your estimara (card) and dont forget to ask for sticker.... coz sometimes they forget to give one... they'll gonna ask you to come back after a few days to install your new plate number... then that's it..
